NFM Visits Nestlé Quality Assurance Center
As a kickoff to EAGLE Boot Camp 2025, participants visited the Nestlé Quality Assurance Center (NQAC) in Dublin, Ohio. The NQAC Dublin laboratory offers over 200 analytical methods in-house to test both raw ingredients and finished food and beverage products. On the tour, we met some of the experts behind NQAC’s industry-leading services and learnt more about the science behind food safety, which aligned with the 2025 World Food Safety theme, "Food Safety: Science in Action." NFM Supports CTFS' Call to Eliminate Food Risks
National Flour Mills (NFM) attended the 2nd Annual Meeting of the Caribbean Task Force on Food Safety (CTFS) at the UWI St. Augustine Campus on June 3-4. Established in 2021, the CTFS serves as a technical advisory body to harmonise food safety measures across the Caribbean. Discussions at the meeting addressed key issues surrounding current and emerging food risks, as well as potential solutions for bolstering food safety systems. We will continue to play our part in the regional effort to ‘future-proof’ food safety systems, evolve as our environment changes, and support the regional agenda for greater levels of food safety engagement.

Efficient cost management drives NFM’s Profits
National Flour Mills Limited (NFM) has delivered commendable financial results for 2024, demonstrating once again its ability to adapt and perform in a volatile economic environment. In its annual report released on April 24, despite a revenue dip of 9%, from $577 million in 2023 to $523 million in 2024, NFM achieved a 6% increase in gross profit, which rose to $161 million. Chief Executive Officer Ian Mitchell explained that this improvement was driven by a 15% reduction in cost of sales, attributed to more efficient raw material procurement and cost management practices. NFM’s operating profit increased to $64.3 million, and net profit after tax grew by 25%, from $35.4 million to $44.2 million. Other notable achievements include its significant improvement in total comprehensive income to $51.6 million from 32.9 million, a 71% reduction in finance costs and an increase in total assets from $447 million to $471 million.
