CYSTOLITHIASIS (Bladder Stone)

An 8 yo, female domestic short hair cat was presented to the clinic with a history of difficulty urinating (stranguria), bloody urine (hematuria), obstipation (prolonged constipation) and a decreased appetite.

She was previously seen by two other clinics but the clinical signs did not resolve.

Diagnostics Tests such as:- Blood Tests (CBC and Serum Biochemistry) and an X ray were performed.

Test results showed a slight anemia and an increase of waste build up (Urea) on blood results and a visible urinary bladder stone as well as Megacolon was diagnosed on X-ray.

Surgery was performed for the bladder stone. Manual stool removal was also preformed under anesthesia.

Cryptorchid Surgery in a male dog. 🐶

Cryptorchidism, also known as retained testicles, is a condition in male dogs where one or both testicles do not descend into the sc***um. It’s the most common birth defect in purebred dogs.

Signs
One testicle is much smaller than the other.
If both testicles are retained, the dog may be infertile.

Treatment
The testicles are removed surgically.
The operation depends on where the testicles are located.

Health consequences
Infertility in adulthood.
Increased risk of testicular malignancies.
Testicular torsion, which can cut off blood supply to the testicle and cause severe pain.

Breeding
Cryptorchid animals are disqualified for breeding.
Because the condition is inherited, cryptorchid dogs should not be used for breeding.
