Marlon Scott: Certified Master K9 Trainer

Scott’s K9 Training Academy is owned and managed by Marlon Scott, professional business man and Certified Master K9 Trainer with emphasis on Narcotics and Explosives Detection.

Scott’s love for dogs started as a young boy growing up in Palo Seco, Trinidad. Seeing dogs being ill- treated saddened him but ignited a dream in his heart to help dogs. At the age of 14, he started reading books about dogs and one day, he told his father that he wants to learn to train dogs. His father did not hesitate to find someone to help his eager son. Not having much knowledge about dogs back then, Scott was convinced that his first dog was a pure bred pitbull, so he got his ears cut to look fierce and trained him only to learn later on that it was just a common dog also known as “pot hound’’. Scott learned to give dog commands such as sit, come and here etc. It amazed his friends and family to see how he was able to get a dog’s attention and respect when executing commands.

After graduating from Secondary School, Scott joined the Trinidad and Tobago Military service where he served for 4 years in the canine department. He was the youngest to obtain the rank of Superintendent in his time. He dreamed of one day owning a security firm to provide Security and Patrol Dogs to guard and protect businesses throughout Trinidad and Tobago. Scott’s K9 Security Services was established in 2006 offering exceptional service and highly trained obedience dogs to efficiently protect and deter intruders on site.

In 2016, Marlon Scott, determined to learn more and to expand his business, went on to further his studies in dog training in the US. Here he successfully completed his Masters in Dog Training at Highland K9 Training Institute for Dog Trainers, also winning award for Obedience and Detection.
