This lovely gentleman came into the TTSPCA and asked for a dog who would be difficult to place, so Gimpy was shown - he had spent a few months in the vet clinic after being rescued by Princess when she found him abandoned at the fishing centre where he was hit by a car, and then moved to the TTSPCA where he has been for quite some time (he has a stiff back leg and a little limp). So we were absolutely thrilled when he was chosen by his forever person! :) Here's Gimpy on his arrival at his new home.

Hundreds or turtles are swimming in nearby waters and laying on our beaches. This one died from eating discarded fishing line. Many die from eating plastics which are dumped on land and wash into rivers making their way to the sea. Less plastic please.

This gorgeous adult female green sea turtle was rescued late yesterday evening in the upper Keys. We are sad to report she passed away overnight. A necropsy revealed her intestines were filled with fishing line 😩. A reminder to please properly dispose of discarded fishing line and fishing gear…it cost this reproductive female her life. 🐢💔.

While we know that not everybody likes to think about their own death, but, as pet owners, it’s your responsibility to make sure that if anything happens, your beloved pet has things put in place by you, for them. Both TTSPCA/ AWN often has to deal with cases in which an owner has died, and nothing has been talked about with friends or family regarding the welfare of the pet/s should they (the owner) get ill or eventually die. Pets have been left in yards or houses for weeks on end without food or care, often no one realizes until the animal is seen to be losing weight or, they themselves die. TTSPCA/ AWN asks you to think about your pets, talk to friends and family and let them know your wishes with regards to the animals you care for. Write all of your instructions down and give them to a few of your closest family members, or, leave a provision for care in your will, remember, as hard as it is to think about, life goes on…so, you must protect those that can’t speak for themselves.
