Aro World Quality = Level of (Ethical + Professional) x (Breeder + Trader + Importer + Hobbyist)

The truth is, arowana industry is a very unethical one. If the industry is one which base on conserving the natural beauty and breeding new hybrid of high ornamental value, then it will not be on this almost non reversible road of destruction.

The commercial ethics of current aro industry is : breed; trade and supply what is affordable and pleasing to the eyes of hobbyist ... thru tanning, hormones and chemical means. As long as the majority are agreeable on this, it is not wrong.

This has greatly deviated from the original meaning of breeding. The now so call aro breeder should not be holding the title of aro breeder but aro Farmer. Aro breeders should shoulder the responsibility of protecting the aro bloodline and educate the downline in supplying aro that will improve the future aro hobby.

The aro competition has always been full of flaws. It was not competed in the light of natural beauty and promoting or encouraging the breeders to excel in producing top notch aro. But it was competed in the artificial light of skill in tanning, hormones and chemical use. This kind of competition only bring in more sales to the aqua accessories maker. There is no need for breeder to compete in who can produce the best aro bloodline. Most sub-standard aro can be an artificial beauty.

In the Japanese ranchu world, the judge must be holding at least 15years of breeding experience and be approved by the association that he has the knowledge of breeding top quality ranchu. In aro world. Judges were loosely invited based on the seniority, amount of sponsorship and popularity. They can be breeder, trader or importers that has absolutely no interest in future development of aro hobby but with short sightedness in gaining as much sales profit as possible.

Aro competition is important for the true hobbyist who want to confirm their skill in selecting the aro and grooming them to their best potential. Upmost important for breeder to confirm their skill in breeding the best aro bloodline and being honoured as one who has sacrifice his lifetime to achieve it. Aro competition should not be one which promote artificial skill!
