Date back to Sunday, June 28th, 2020. The arrival of this little guy absolutely changed my life.
I had Ornithophobia, the abnormal and irrational fear of birds, is a type of specific phobia. A phobia is an intense, exaggerated fear of a particular situation or thing. There are many types of specific phobias and each has a unique name that’s derived from Greek. Having a fear of birds is called ornithophobia. If you have ornithophobia, you may experience intense anxiety when thinking about or being around birds.
This little guy was delivered, by the owner of his parents to me in a box in the afternoon. He handed me the box and this precious little baby was only 14 days old. I opened the box, still had fear in my heart but when i looked at him in his big eyes, that cuteness took the fear away from me a little bit. My sister accompanied me there as she got herself a Budgerigar 2 weeks ago and that's where parrots started to interest me. So for the first meal, Navy was fed by her.
She left later in the evening. Ok, now it's my battle alone. My first time feeding Navy, bruh, it was such a MESS. Navy was coated in the parrot milk as if that's where he's been sleeping in. And I, was wearing gloves.
"Why is this mommy wearing gloves when feeding the baby parrot?"
"Newbie, obviously."
As I posted a photo of me feeding Navy in a parrot group and asked for the amount, frequency and tips etc for parrot baby feeding.
Man, I felt embarrassed for not doing enough homework before getting this baby home. So I started studying every post, in all the English and Mandarin parrot groups. Brought books, searched for infos and visited some parrot owners to learn. Hopefully my lessons and experiences learned could help anyone who wants a better life for their feathered kids. It's worth it. He not only cured my Ornithophobia, he's also been super therapeutic! The snuggle, kisses and stuff just make you love them! Feel free to comment and ask questions, I'll do my best to help.
