Piper, Pixel, Ramen, and Noodle are at Columbia Animal Services. The owner has about 20+ dogs this size and they is working to rehome and place them, some accidental litters got out of hand... If you are looking for 20lbs and under dogs, they have lots and not all are fearful. Let me know if you want to help with the rest of the ones not here and I’ll see about getting photos and info…

♦♦ URGENT!! ❗❗ - Atticus is at risk for euthanasia due to high levels of Fear, Stress, and Anxiety (FSA) at Columbia Animal Services in Columbia, SC!

This big boy came in very soft and shut down and has recently come out of his shell with staff and volunteer interactions. Per our observation notes, this boy is unfortunately not handling the kennels well and has started to exhibit behaviors associated with high levels of FSA. He is being reactive and has hyperactivity in his kennel by barking uncontrollably and constantly jumping on the walls and gate of his kennel.

PUPDATE: going to rescue!

Garrett is at Columbia Animal Services, in Columbia S.C. Suspected Hit By Car dog, and has a fracture in its back leg. We are unsure if the leg is repairable or not at this time, radiographs are needed to determine this.
*This dog could be at risk of euthanasia with no rescue commitment as we currently do not know the full extent of his injuries, however he is stable and seems to only have the leg fracture from what we can tell. The shelter is already over capacity by 24 dogs IN-HOUSE, and without knowing rescue or knowing the extent of his injury, may only be able to kennel him until the end of his stray hold* WE ARE SEEKING MEDICAL PULL ONLY!!!! HE IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AT THIS TIME!!!!!

Nick and Frito are at Columbia Animal Services in Columbia, SC. These two dogs have had X-rays that show fractures of the femur. The shelter plans to amputate the fractured legs, however without Rescue, Foster, or possible adoption commitment we are unable to proceed with amputation as there are higher risk of common complications that could occur while in recover here at the shelter that may go unrecognized due to lack in adequate man power to monitor the animal for the 2 week recovery period.

*These dogs could be as risk of euthanasia for not only the mentioned risk of complications but due to the amount of resources needed to care for the animals IN-HOUSE, along with space they would be holding during that period. The shelter is already over capacity by 24 dogs IN-HOUSE, and can only kennel them for all so long*

Georgie is at Columbia Animal Services. He is an owner surrender due to the owners personal cats not getting along well with him. We are seeking a MEDICAL PULL due to being unable to fully diagnose him from lack of testing resources.

Charlotte is at Columbia Animal Services in Columbia, SC. She could be at risk for euthanasia if we do not find a place for her, due to possible underlying issues that we are NOT able to test for. she is doing significantly better, walking around, is still reserved most likely due to her current condition, but is coming around with time. WE ARE STILL SEEKING RESCUE!!!

UPDATE 12/12/24: she is currently medically stable and no longer needs any significant intervention, however she is still recovering and needs time to heal and recover. She is scared, but our team is able to fully handle her for exams.

Charlotte is at Columbia Animal Services in Columbia, SC. She could be at risk for euthanasia if we do not find a place for her, we do NOT have the resources to properly care for her for more than a few days should she worsen, and are seeking an IMMEDIATE MEDICAL PULL!

Medical: Apparent hit by car, appears to have brain swelling, trauma, was in shock on arrival, treated for shock and brain swelling, improved. Unsure if any fractures of spine, skull, but extremities seem ok.

PUPDATE: adoption ambassador home!

🐾Niko is at Columbia Animal Services. He is displaying signs of stress and anxiety in the kennel and could become at risk for euthanasia in the future due to this behavior.

Niko came in severely emaciated and neglected to the point he most likely would not have survived another 24 hrs without animal control officers intervention, he would have died... It took him months to gain weight to be healthy enough to go up for adoption, he was 27lbs at intake and 58lbs when he finally got neutered.

Play group assessment notes:
12/6/24: very dog friendly, overly mouthy
Staff Notes: painting in kennel, jumping on an at kennel front, and is severely kennel stressed.
Medical Notes: photos below are before his bath on day one, had surgery to close the deep pressure sores on his hind end - he was not healthy enough to heal such deep wounds so they were surgically closed. Now he has little lines on his tooshie where it healed
