His son and heir, Count Anton Günther, who ruled from 1603-1667, did much to develop the breed. He brought Neapolitan, Andalusian, English, Polish, Barbary horses, and the half-bred oriental stallion Krenich was the sire at his factory. The Count loved dressage, and therefore managed to get a breed suitable for her. After his death, the county passed to Denmark for 100 years, the government of which did not specifically deal with the breed.
