RUSSIANS HAVE BLOWN UP THE KAHOVKA HYDROELECTRIC POWER PLANT IN THE KHERSON REGION

On the night of June 6, Russian forces detonated the Kahovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. The water level in villages and cities is rising rapidly, posing a threat of flooding to 80 settlements. The Ukrainian authorities, in collaboration with volunteers, are conducting the evacuation of the population.

The Docudays UA festival has compiled a list of verified civic initiatives and volunteers (https://www.facebook.com/DocudaysUA/posts/795663825247290) who are assisting in the evacuation of people and animals, as well as collecting funds for motor pumps to remove dirty water.

5 artists — 5 cities — 5 sound experiences

Today at 7-10pm tune in for a live broadcast of streams and recordings from Dnipro, Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv and Uzhhorod. 5 sound-artists (Ivan Skoryna, Ksenia Shcherbakova, Viktor Konstantinov, Ksenia Yanus and Maksym Ivanov) will simultaneously share sounds that mark their personal wartime experiences.

This release is the result of a workshop mentored by representatives of the Soundcamp and Acoustic Commons, UK. On the workshop participants assembled their own streamboxes and developed projects that explore the changes in the sound world that had occurred since the beginning of a full-scale invasion. It may be a sudden silence of an empty tourist town or the painful experience of being displaced, the sounds of the night city as we all return home before the curfew, and thousands of other observations, some of which you will be able to hear at the event.
