OCC ⚕️ WAR: Kyiv Cat Crew
Rescuers & Caregivers @irena_druzenko & @lorik_lorik report: #AppreciationPost
A HUGE Thank You to Angelina Morozova assisted by Svetlana Baklanova!
The rescue community will always remember Angelina for her heroic efforts during the devastating floods, famine, and relentless Russian attacks. She fought for the animals of Oleshki on the occupied side and for those on the Ukrainian side at her divided shelter CHANCE, saving hundreds of lives amidst unimaginable challenges.
Angelina’s fight against animal neglect and abuse has never stopped. And today, we have yet another opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to her.
When we had exhausted all our options to find a home for our war rescue dog, Kashasa—Kasya—the dog waiting in vain, enclosed in a cat shelter, Angelina stepped in. She took Kasya under her wing, cared for her, and found her a loving family abroad, where Kasya could finally enjoy the peace and freedom she so deeply deserves. This is the kind of magic Angelina creates—futures transformed💙💛
At the same time, we must call urgent attention to the situation facing @chancekherson , a shelter that is home to 130 dogs who are now starving.
This shelter, located in Kherson, has endured occupation, floods, shelling, and raids during the war. Volunteers risk their lives daily to feed, rescue, and treat animals under fire. The dogs live in constant fear, hiding from enemy shells and explosions, and now they face starvation.
The shelter has reduced food portions to stretch resources.
How do we explain to these innocent souls that there’s no food left?
Chocolate, once a lover of delicious meals, now cherishes a single handful of food.
Star, a quiet and modest dog, now desperately fights her way to the food, fearing she won’t get any.
They need us. Without help, this shelter will perish.

Farewell to our daughter SIRENA🐈⬛🪽
She knew it was time to go. It had been a hard year, a year that had asked too much of her gentle body.
She felt it in her bones, that ancient wisdom of creatures who sense their journey’s end.
When she met you, Irena, she’d grown tired of the weight, the way each day seemed to pull her a little further away from the life she once knew.
The thought of traveling one last time—leaving your home she’d made her own—was a burden she couldn’t bear.
She’d loved your shared life with quiet grace, wrapping herself around you in ways no one else ever could.
She learned to walk again and learned every corner of the room, every sunlit patch on the floor, every sound in the night that would send her ears flicking toward the door.
And when she’d look at you, there was a knowing there, a trust, a peace.
In her final day, she grew even softer, her fur still warm beneath your hand, quieter but still steady, like a heartbeat. Yesterday evening she knew you’d be there, that you’d hold her close as she drifted away.
This morning she knew that her journey would end as it began—with motherly love and peace, by your side.
Now, she rests in power. Somewhere in a field of light and warmth, she stretches in the sun, free from the weight of this world.
And in those moments when the house is quiet, when the drones won’t fly, when the sirens won’t howl, when a stray sunbeam falls just so across the floor, you’ll feel her presence—soft, gentle, eternal.
Now, SIRENA is your angel, watching over you always, Irena, keeping you close in spirit.
Farewell to our daughter🥀

UPDATE: REACTIVE DOG with PTSD Symptoms
@odessacatcrew aka OCC WAR Coordinator @irena_druzenko ’s reactive Weimaraner, already suffering from severe trauma related reactiveness, is now showing additional signs of PTSD. After a short period of improvement through a specialised training program in June:
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/B5VodhbQ2YZEsyTy/
The progress has stalled due to a lack of funds to continue the sessions.
SitRep: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/HLgqh3T3Zm9rntCW/
Who: VÄSTERÅS aka VÄST
Male Weimaraner in Ukraine, aggressive/reactive due to attack-trauma from another Weimaraner.
Why: Essential due to prior trauma and lack of early socialisation due to past neglectful questionable breeder from Luhansk; the dog is difficult to handle.
Health Status: Bi-annual bloodwork clear. Heart clear. Enlarged spleen. Ultrasound otherwise clear.
Psychosomatic trauma-related symptoms.
However, we are immensely grateful for the support from:
* Steve Wallis @stevemwallis , who donated GBD, which has been essential in calming the dog’s overstimulated nervous system.
* Chrissy Joubert via Ukraine Emergency Animal Relief Fund @ukraine.animal.relief , who provided special headwear that is to reduce his sensitivity to loud noises, which is aggravating his anxiety.
Although these contributions have provided some relief, more advice on how to alleviate his stress amidst the war, *unfortunately without sufficient funds for therapy*, is needed to continue his rehabilitation and address both his severe reactiveness and PTSD.
The high hopes are to find a sponsor for canine behavioural therapy, ideally.
OCC War Animal Relief thanks you for your support!

OCC WAR & shelter: CATS WITH TEA present
DIFFERENT KIND OF CATS
55 War Animals: Cats With Tea
We are the forgotten souls of war—55 cats & dogs who once roamed, starving and afraid, the occupied streets of Lyptsi, Kharkiv. Through fire and fear, we walked the Green Corridor, led by our dearest rescuer, Alyona. Together, we endured the unimaginable. We are survivors, not just of war, but of hope that refused to die.
Now, we find peace at our Rescuer Alyona’s “Cats With Tea” shelter. We are safe, warm, and fed, thanks to the hearts of you, DOGSNHOMES, who became our lifeline. Your kindness is our sanctuary. We owe our lives to Alyona & unknown friends.
To those who carried us through, to those who send us food, we say: thank you for helping us survive this Russian war on life.

I AM BAKI
Seeking True Love:
YOU: An active, outdoorsy individual who enjoys staying fit and loves adventure. You can live anywhere as long as you take me with you.
You’re sporty, love games, and are dedicated to animal welfare, with a passion for exploring new places and making the most of every day with me.
Loyalty and companionship are at the core of who you are, and you’re looking for a best friend forever who shares your zest for life.
ME: (According to the professional assessment by Antheus Kennel Centre)
I AM BAKI, a 5-year-old Malinois male from France. I have a beautiful, rich carrot-colored mahogany coat and a strong, confident presence.
I’m very people-oriented, respond well to commands, and get along well with other dogs.
I am friendly to cats indoors, however outdoors my instincts take over and I chase easily.
I am *NOT* a working/service/military/guard dog. Instead, I am a companion animal trained to share my love for life with yours.
I’m *NOT* aggressive with food (not resource guarding) and have a healthy appetite for both dry and mixed food, as well as raw meat.
Physically, I’m in great shape, though I do have a mild sensitivity to loud noises of explosions and gunshots. I’m currently in a country in full scale war.
I’m always eager for human contact and companionship. I imagine us together, running, playing, and you telling me how good a boy I am. Can you see us getting together?
I’m looking for someone to call my own. I need my person. Could that someone be you?
