Stingrays are a very large group of aquatic animals that have no relation to mammals. A stingray is a fish, or more precisely, a creature belonging to the category of plate-gill cartilaginous fishes.

The color of an animal largely depends on its habitat: inland sea waters and freshwater bodies. In these creatures, the color of the upper body area can be either light, for example, sandy, or multi-colored, with fancy ornaments or dark. It is this coloration that helps stingrays to successfully disguise themselves from observers from above, allowing them to blend in with the surrounding space.

The venom is contained in one or more dorsal or tail spines of the animal. The injury usually occurs when an unwary swimmer wanders the ocean surf or low tide and steps on a ray buried in the sand, causing it to fling its tail up and forward and drive the spike into the swimmer's leg or foot.

On the discs of the pectoral fins, rays have a pair of organs that generate electrical current. To prevent the animal from hitting itself, the organs are surrounded by insulating tissue with high resistivity and are in contact only with the external environment. They consist of electrocytes - flattened cells formed into columns.
