Today, the Diocese of North West Ankole, led by Bishop Amos Magezi, launched a campaign to profile coffee farmers in Western and South Western Uganda. This initiative aims to help farmers conform to the new EUDR deforestation regulation set to take effect on December 31, 2024. The EUDR is crucial for promoting sustainable sourcing practices and protecting our forests, ensuring that European markets only receive products that do not contribute to deforestation.

Key components of this initiative include:

* Land Use Change: Verification that coffee is grown on land that hasn’t caused deforestation or degradation.

* Biodiversity Protection: Ensuring that farming practices do not harm local wildlife or biodiversity.

* Increased Income: With verified EUDR compliance, farmers can access new markets and potentially earn higher prices for their sustainably sourced coffee, leading to increased income and economic stability.

Inputi LTD is proud to provide the traceability technology that will empower these farmers to access the European market.

Meet Milly Apiyo, the owner of Alpha Farmers Shop in Cwero, Gulu district! Since opening her shop earlier this year, Milly has been empowered by Inputi through our distribution partner model. She benefits from a reliable supply of stock from our authorized partner, Pur Konyo Pit Farmers Centre, located just 100 meters away!

This close proximity means Milly no longer has to spend time and money traveling to town for supplies. Instead, she can focus on what she does best: serving her community's farmers with 100% genuine agricultural inputs.

It also means that the farmers in her vicinity can focus on their farming, as they now have easy access to essential inputs without incurring extra travel and delivery expenses.

Milly is thankful for the affordable, high-quality products that Inputi consistently supplies to her shop.

With Pur Konyo Pit Farmers Centre supporting not only Alpha Farmers Shop but also four other shops in the area, we’re making a significant impact on agricultural productivity for local farmers.

Through the ecosystem we are building around our distribution partners, we’re fostering sustainable growth and ensuring that essential inputs are always within reach for those who need them most.

This effort aligns with our mission to empower and uplift the next generation of women in agriculture. Milly shared her story with Ambition Mwine,MBA, our Business Development and Sales Lead.

🌱🚜 Inputi's update from the Horticulture Market Acceleration Project (HortiMAP) in Uganda! 🍅🥦

We've been hard at work across Western, Central, and Eastern Uganda, training farmers under HortiMAP (a collaboration with TechnoServe) to boost productivity and market access for 30,000 fruit and vegetable farmers.

Inputi's hybrid approach included on-ground training sessions and an SMS campaign to enhance farmer knowledge and reinforce system usage, from placing orders to connecting with markets.

Initially, we conducted comprehensive training on the usage of the Inputi Farmer App, equipping farmers with the skills to manage their farm activities efficiently.

Subsequently, we demonstrated the functionalities of our Farmer Enterprise Management Solutions (FEMS) mapping tool. It was incredibly inspiring to witness farmers fully engaged, actively exploring the mapping features while navigating their training garden areas.

Our focus areas include:

📲 Promoting technology adoption
📈 Providing market-oriented training
📝 Offering best practices advice
🌍 Utilizing our FEMS mapping tool for efficient farm management

During our sessions, farmers learned how to leverage the FEMS system for mapping, place orders for inputs, and access expert agro-advisory services. With tools like the Inputi Farmer App, USSD Code (28468 #), and Toll-Free Line, 0800 200 119, we're ensuring farmers have the resources and support they need to thrive.

Check out these snapshots📸 from our recent trainings, where farmers are gaining valuable insights and skills to transform their agricultural practices.

Animals with cloven hooves, such as cattle, sheep, and pigs, are susceptible to the viral disease foot and mouth disease. The illness can result in huge financial losses for the livestock industry and is very contagious.

It is crucial to act quickly to stop the spread of the disease if there are cases of foot and mouth disease. To stop the disease from spreading to new places, this may entail taking steps like placing diseased animals in quarantine, limiting the movement of cattle, and installing biosecurity measures.
