Working this morning with clients, and their Great Pyrenees puppy. It is always a joy working with a future guardian dog!
Working with Goose on some environmental training today. Today was his first exposure to the training field and he mastered both the short and long tunnels. 
When you are out and about with your dog, take everything into perspective in your surroundings, because hazards exist…
If your equipment or a device is not helping you accomplish what you want to accomplish with your dog, you may want to try something new. If the owner clarifies what he, or she needs to clarify to their dog, then all the problems will be resolved. Control is control, and control is not leading… leading is providing the animal with peaceful clarity. When you improve the clarity and peace in the relationship, it automatically resolves some of the undesired behaviors that the human owner does not want to deal with when it comes to their animal. You should never, ever have to rely on any type of mechanical device or trainer to control or stop an undesired behavior for the rest of the dogs life. If you do, there is a major issue with the continuity between you and your dog. Learn to apply dog to dog, instead of human to dog, because your dog definitely does not understand human.

Track of the Dog LLC offers various, fun brain stimulators for dogs such as recreational tracking and trailing. Dogs, especially higher drive dogs need more than just physical activity.
Physical activities with your dog are great, but please do not forget about the mental stimulation needed also for the brain health of the dog.

Shane and I worked on recall with a client today. Her two Miniature Dachshunds started to not come to her when called…especially when they were getting ready to leave.
Keep in mind dogs learn when their freedom is taken away. Most dogs start avoiding going back to the owner because the majority of the time when the dogs are called, they are having their liberty taken away or the owner is leaving the home to go to work…creating Pack Disruption by leaving. That is why I have my clients change the timing and the equation that demonstrates to the dog that they are not having their liberty taken away, every time they are called. Working with Nancy and her Belgian Malinois/ GSD Cross Kii today on tracking. Kii is very Green still but learning her amazing natural capabilities! It is so important to be as fluid as possible while maintaining lead control…especially with green dogs.
Working with Nancy and her Malinois Shepherd Cross Kii on trailing. I made a scent pool close to the end of the trail to create a more complex equation for the handler and dog to work through. I was impressed with their ability because they are still in the green stage of growth in this theater…
