After some much needed time off, it was great to do a job tonight! I love the animals I care for like family. They bring me so much joy. It was only a one night job and I'm off the next two weeks to take care of some house renovations and care for family, but it was so great to work tonight.

Poor Gal! As we were taking her on her nightly walkies, a giant, LOUD firework went off right above our heads and scared the crap out of all of us! Poor gal was pulling so hard to get back home that Rich and I both had to hold the leash! Rich was able to calm her down with his gentle and kind nature, though. Once we got her back in her home, she felt a lot better.
I just don't understand what the hell is wrong with people! Why the hell would you set off such a humongous firework in the middle of a small neighborhood that late at night just so you can hear a big boom?

Bonding with our client Mama Cat. She's a senior lady who is very easily over stimulated, meaning if you pet/touch her too much she will feel agitated. That agitation can quickly turn to anger and she may lash out. It's not her fault, all she wants is love. So I show her love in other ways she can understand, like just being present with her (this is her favorite), slightly pushing back when she head butts (very slight), encouraging her by speaking praises in a soft voice, and yes, a few light pets/soft, quick touches.
