We are looking for a Full-time Kennel Technician, to work in a fast pace, boarding facility. Duties include (but are not limited to) feeding/watering, bathing, giving oral medications, cleaning / disinfecting animal quarters, laundry, observing animals to check for possible signs of illnesses, diseases, or injuries and, responding to questions from clients concerning their pets. You must be available to work some Saturdays and Sundays on a rotating schedule. You will also be required to spend time outside, in all types of weather, to monitor daycare, play-care and, therapy swim sessions. You must have reliable transportation. Experience is not required. Job description:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting veterinarians in providing care to animals
- Handling and restraining animals during examinations and procedures
- Administering medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Preparing and maintaining examination rooms and surgical areas
- Cleaning and sterilizing equipment and instruments
- Monitoring the health and well-being of animals in the clinic or hospital
- Assisting with diagnostic tests, such as blood work and x-rays
- Providing basic grooming services, nail trimming

Skills:
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and veterinary staff
- Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques
- Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team environment
- Attention to detail in maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Physical stamina to handle animals of various sizes and lift heavy objects if necessary
- Compassion for animals and their well-being

Let's talk about puppies and grooming!!
It is a great idea to get your puppy in to see a groomer as soon as possible. Generally, we recommend between 12 and 16 weeks old, or after 2 rounds of puppy vaccines.
During this age, puppies are starting to socialize, learn and enjoy new experiences. It is during this time we can start to build a positive relationship with you and your pet. Getting your puppy comfortable with a groomer will make each visit more enjoyable for them (and us). After all, grooming can be scary and stressful the first time, especially for older pets.
You don't have to do a full groom the first time. I mean, who doesn't love a fluffy puppy. But, allowing us to do a "mini groom", or even just bathe your pet, helps them get used to us, our tools, and our process for grooming. The more routine grooming becomes, the less stress your pet will have throughout its lifetime of visits.
In general, keeping your pet on a 4-6 week schedule for grooming is highly recommended and will help keep your pet looking good.
