Two years have come and gone which means it is time for this handsome boy to be started under saddle ! I am so excited for Kay Nolan and Shinerelse’s future ! He is as sweet natured ,willing, handsome and athletic as ever just like his sire Hankerelse!!
There is something about breeding and the kind of joy it brings when you watch foals from your program grow .

I am excited to announce that I am at a place where I can have a couple outside riding horses again. Very excited to be boarding at The Stables in Abilene.
Duck is loving her new set up and I highly recommend The Stables . They are providing top quality facilities and amenities for those boarding their horses. PLUS they are conveniently located .

Reminders for cold weather:

Be prepared early make sure you have plenty of supplies.

Horses are fed by weight not volume and require extra calories during winter .

Blanketing is an individual opinion.

Horses tend to drink less when it is cold. Be proactive in preventing colic by offer warm water with electrolytes to encourage drinking,making a mash of their feed with electrolytes mixed in, or use a top dressing supplement that covers vitamins,minerals and probiotics (that is the one I prefer).

Be proactive and remember your horse depends on you.

Stop and pet them a little extra today . Thankful for the good people ,good horses and good dogs I have in my life. The good people that have believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. The good horses that made me learn new ways to approach them . Good dogs that are unconditional in their love and consistent in their dedication.
Thankful to start today working and riding this kind mare.

Ground driving is one of my favorite things to do with a young horse it helps bridge so many gaps.

PSA: This is a snippet of the parts that people don’t see and few understand. The amount of dedication,funds,blood,sweat and tears at times that go into every aspect of producing a good horse is insurmountable. If you are riding a good horse pet them . Then thank God for the breeder who invested time ,money and lost sleep to help insure they came into the world safe and healthy. Thank God for the trainer and colt starter who handled and taught that horse to be a productive citizen many times at the expense of their time,mental health and physical body. Thank God for the vet and techs that take crazy calls ,texts all while trying to maintain their mental and physical health in a industry that is very unforgiving way too often. Thank God for the farriers who at the expense of their physical well being put up with more than they should . NICE prospects are planned from the beginning and developed over time. Yet,people expect to pay only a few thousand ,if that , for a solid horse that is in their prime and been there done that .Or they want one that is a high performance athlete with no maintenance for very little cost. I am sure they exist somewhere between the Pegasus and the unicorn . So the next time you swing a leg over a nice horse be thankful because a great deal went into getting them to that point and be willing to spend good money for one …. With a ppe and X-rays if need be of course .
