3 dogs and only 4 eyes. Our groomer, Dakota, is known for her love of the odd ball pet. Caliber, Rooster, and Odin all love to lay around and eat snacks. When the sun is out, these old guys like to lay in the sun and relax. ☀️😎

Hayley, our kennel manager, has a house full of cute faces! Let’s meet her crew ❤️

Millie- My first dog of my own and the angel baby of the group. I got her from the shelter in 2020 when she was 4:)

Marley- Picked her up off the street in 2021 when she was around 1 and has been chilling ever since. Big goofy girl but proves that sometimes “you can take a dog out of the streets but you can’t take the street out of a dog”😂

Mango- Have always wanted a corgi and finally got one in 2023 and he didn’t disappoint. A whole lot of attitude packed into a little man

Maple- Fiancé brought her home last week with the intention of finding her a good home- found her one, it just turned out to be our home 😝

Leo- Stray kitty that I brought inside in 2020. Now he’s spoiled and tells me when I’m late bringing him dinner

Daisy, one of our kind kennel assistants, has a full house!
This is Peanut, Nuggets, Freddie, Gypsy, and Mj 🩷 Peanut is energetic but feisty. Nuggets is the baby of the family, Freddie is named after Freddie Mercury because he’s always singing, Gypsy is the mom of the other 3, she’s sassy but has her sweet moments, and mj is the perfect house cat, sweet and loving. 🌼

Adrien is our other veterinarian receptionist. She is currently on maternity leave. Her first baby, a beautiful little girl named Ellie was born a bit early on 4/19, she weighs 5.5lbs and is healthy and strong. Thank you Adrien for all that you do for our patients and clients. Our Journey

Dr. O’Hara grew up in Southern California where from an early age he had a love for animals and medicine. He made the decision to combine those two passions and study veterinary medicine. He attended the University of California San Diego where he received a Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience. He then attended Veterinary School at Oregon State University where he graduated in 2012. After receiving his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, he has spent the last five years practicing in Texas.

Dr. O’Hara and I were married in 2007. We welcomed our first child, Finn O’Hara in 2015. We soon began to reflect on the time we spent together in different parts of the country, and began to explore where we truly wanted to settle down and raise our family. Timing is everything in life- Dr. O’Hara was given the opportunity to complete his dream of owning a veterinary practice in a beautiful town and region. We relocated our family to one of the most charming and beautiful towns in Southwest Virginia - Abingdon.

Dr. O’Hara became the proud owner of Abingdon Animal Medical Center at the end of November, 2017. We have truly fallen in love with this region of Virginia and the community of Abingdon. It has been a very busy first year for us on top of the practice, as we have welcomed a new addition to our family, a beautiful baby girl named Maeve O’Hara. We are so grateful to be here and be a part of this community as well as care for all of your fur babies. We are very fortunate to have an amazing set of employees whom care as much as we do about all of our patients. We couldn’t be here without you. Thank you to all of our clients for entrusting Abingdon Animal Medical Center to care for your animals.
