đżBertie Bee ACCT-A-217407
Bertie Bee is 4yo & arrived at ACCT Philly on April 13th, 2025, after being found injured by a kind community member. This person, along with neighbors, had been feeding Bertie Bee and described him as friendly, quiet, and understandably frightened, with visible bloody wounds.
Upon intake, Bertie Bee was diagnosed with sarcoptic mange and was found to have significant skin abrasions on his face and neck, likely from intense scratching. He is also battling a severe upper respiratory infection, a chronic ear infection, and fractured, diseased teeth. Additionally, he has tested positive for FIV. Despite these multiple medical challenges, Bertie Bee has shown himself to be incredibly sweet and cooperativeâgently accepting treatment, eating with gusto, and allowing soft pets from staff.
During a check-in on April 16th, staff found him curled up in his den, resting quietly with noticeable congestion. Though still feeling under the weather, he welcomed gentle head scratches through the bars. Just a day earlier, staff watched him eagerly enjoy his meal, showing off his healthy appetite and proving that even in tough times, he's a little foodie at heart. His finderâs initial impressionâfriendly but timidâcontinues to ring true, and with each day, Bertie Bee shows more signs of coming out of his shell.
Due to his FIV status and multiple medical needs, Bertie Bee is considered rescue-only and is urgently in need of placement. He is at high risk of decline in the shelter environment. For anyone with a calm, caring space and the heart to help a truly gentle soul, Bertie Bee would be a grateful and loving companion.
Behavioral Notes
Per staff 4/16/2025: Went to visit Bertie Bee to get a photo and video for his profile. He was sitting in his feral den with his head hanging low and you could hear his congested breathing. He did not react when I opened his kennel and did not respond when I pet him with a gloved hand. He did allow petting of his head, but is not feeling his best so did not react much.
Per staff 4/15/25: Very sweet guy, ate food ravenously
Per finder 4/13/25: Friendly, quiet, scared
