OMC! Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, no-kill Breed Specific Cat Rescue. We are a volunteer run group

Rescue (Only Maine C***s Rescue) is a licensed non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. We are a 100% volunteer - run, breed - specific rescue group that specializes in the Maine C**n cat breed. We rescue Maine C**n mixes from shelters and unwanted situations. On occasion, we rescue purebred (PB) Maine C**n cats (meaning the cat has papers registering it as a purebred). Our cats are lovingly cared fo

r in Foster homes until placed into their forever homes. Although we cannot guarantee the percentage of Maine C**n in each cat that we rescue, we ensure that each “C**nie” cat represents the breed in a satisfactory manner. Dinky went to the specialist today
We did an ultrasound a few more X-rays and bloodwork
For now we will have to wait to see if his trachea heals itself. All of his organs and blood work are good. He was prescribed some meds to hopefully help him in his journey. He will need weekly X-rays to check to see if the emphysema clears up and to check on the tear for 4 weeks. We will also recheck bloodwork

We are mostly concerned about his appetite at this point and I will continue to try different foods and the meds with him

We received unhappy mews today.
Dinky had a vet visit and it was discovered that he had Sub Q air in his body so we did an xray. He has a trachea tear, bronchitis, and an inflamed liver. He needs surgery to repair the damage.
He lost 4 lbs and is struggling to breath
We need to get him to a specialist within the next few days for a consult, tests and surgery- an expense we cannot afford right now. ( guesstimate is 4-5 k)

We are announcing a raffle fundraiser tonight at 6 pm on our page and group that will run until Friday. We will do a live video to announce the winner.

The prize is a cute cat bag filled with goodies. Oversized cat nip mat, hand made catnip toy, cat crack, cat teaser and a ratherbee catnip kick stick.

Thursday and Friday were tough days for me.
🌈 RIP Minky 🌈💔
It was very unexpected. After a simple dental procedure, he was rushed to the hospital. Bleeding would not stop, his brain swelled and his kidneys shut down
After 2 CPR and 2 incubation attempts he needed help breathing with a machine. I was heartbroken.
After $5,000 dollars invested in care I had to hold his paw and cry my goodbyes.
He leaves behind his brother Dinky

We owe most of the money to the vet yet as we were not prepared for this

I will be posting a fundraiser in another post if anyone is interested in supporting our efforts

In the last 2 months we have been hit really really hard with medical expenses

Some successful and some were not
Rescue is tough, very tough. It is unthinkable what happens behind the scenes, the requests for help, the vet visits, the ones we can help and the ones we have to decline.

And just like that a new kitten needs our help. I was not expecting a mew foster but could not say no. The baby boy was surrendered to a shelter by someone who “found” him outside. He needs his eye removed. He is 9/10 weeks old. He’s a snuggly friendly boy who is settling into his new foster home and enjoying the heating pad. He ate well - but we are out of kitten can food - so he had Sheba. I also discovered some wiggly things in his p**p. Please help if you can with any kitten supplies or donations towards his eye removal. Papi update. He has received 2 radiation treatments. Words cannot describe the difference. His tumor is almost completely gone. The congestion, bloody nose, mucus and eye draining- GONE. The best mews is that he is eating on his own finally after 5 weeks of syringe feedings. He goes back one last time for a 3 rd radiation treatment. Thank you so much to everyone who donated and supported Papi in his journey. He will still need a dental to complete his treatment after he is cleared which is expected to cost around $1500.00 His previous owners gave up on him be we did not. He will make a great addition to anyone who adopts him. He’s so sweet and loving and he actually gives hugs 🤗. If you would like to help us with the very high vet bills please click the link. 7/20/24 Update: we received devastating news for our boy Frankie. The diagnosis is carcinoma, which at this stage is not treatable. His loving foster will continue to care for Frankie until his time with us is done. He will be loved and kept comfortable. Thank you for all your support in caring for him.

RIP Sugerplum

🌈💔 Some things are tough to understand. I held her paw tonight when she could fight no more… This morning Sugerplum -mom to 6 kittens had to be rushed to the hospital. She crashed and could not get up. 2 plasma transfusions and hours of critical care and an ultrasound confirmed she had something leaking in her body. She was too critical for an exploratory surgery and we decided to let her go. With minutes to spare we held her paw and promised her we would take care of her babies. A necropsy showed she had a large hole in her intestines and it was beyond repair. We are heartbroken over her sudden loss. She leaves behind 6 beautiful babies who are now almost 9 weeks old. She was such a good mama and a very very sweet girl. (We also have 3 kittens in a different foster home. ) We are processing applications as quickly as well can for these babies.
