We first became customers of #scootboots about 2 years ago when we needed a boot that was lighter, more agile and had more vents for training in sand footings. We had problems with previous boots coming off over large fences and filling with too much footing and sand. Scoots were the only boots that would not fill up with footing not come off during courses. They are extremely easy to take on and off and are lightweight, flexible and extremely durable. Needless to say, we fell in love with this boot and even more so with the company. We love what Scoot boots stands for and for the link their boots provided between shod and barefoot performance horses. These boots allow for so much flexibility and choice in an owners care and management of their horses hoof care.

Alyssa Karle and Chanella had a great show last weekend and achieved their goal of starting to dabble in the 1m10 Adult Amateur Jumper Division. We really appreciate the @goldcoasthorseshows series for the opportunities they afford horses and riders- a safe and professional atmosphere to tackle new goals while giving horses and riders a welcoming environment to do it in.

Baby horses are never a dull, or quiet moment 😂 Sorry neighbors!!!
Zoe and Danielle had a fun “ball” lesson yesterday on Totem and Frankee!!! We love incorporating the ball into lessons and training-you can get so much training done while having fun. The horses really get into it!
There is a training process that happens to introduce the horses to the ball and then after that, hang on, they’re off
▫️▫️▫️What do you think your horse would think of the ball??
Teaching your horse to ground tie, and then eventually air tie, is a very convenient skill! It’s so easy to work with and around a horse that isn’t wiggling all over the place and respects boundaries. 🪢
It’s also a fun skill to play with….so if you ever walk into our barn isle, don’t be surprised if you see Mr. Goose just chilling right there. We won’t tell anyone if you give him a well deserved #bestboy 🍪 either 🤐🤫
Let’s talk about “de-sensitizing” for a minute…… many people would look this video and think “wow, a lot of de-sensitizing work has gone into this horse”. They aren’t really wrong, but they aren’t really right, either….
🪄 We don’t like the word de-sensitizing🪄
We train our horses to be highly sensitized with the PROPER response to pressure…or angst, or scary, or confining, or whatever you want to call it. And that shows up everywhere, right??!
Lala did not like the used car floppy in this video. Not for one second…..but she has been trained through a meticulous and consistent program to show her the correct response to pressure, or scary floppy used car man. During and as a result of this process, she starts to trust her rider enough to realize she does not need to respond fearfully.
She can look at it, she can not like it, but she doesn’t need to flee, fight or freeze. We NEVER want to take away our horses natural extinct. Horses are prey animals. We want to build such a relationship with them that we instill logic and reasoning which, over time, folds into trust. To take it one step further, a horse that can honor its instincts but still stay in tune and trust its human partner, in our opinion, creates an amazing equine athlete!

Yesterday, we grabbed horses, humans and golf cars to exercise the horses on the roads in our neighborhood! There’s mud everywhere, everyone’s a mess, but we had fun….and we think they did too 🤣 thank you @kellersranch and @zstarks05 for your help!!
Also, reason 4,337 to train your horse how to properly and safely walk (and trot) next to you- regardless of what type of vehicle you may or may not be in! Voice cues and respect of space are a must before you hop in any type of vehicle to move your horse! Our horses are moved around daily with our golf cars all over our ranch property. Also an added bonus for the ponies- - - hard and soft terrain stimulation and practice going over ditches with running water! #crosstraining #outinnature

Ok so we will admit, Frankee’s 🧟 been doing this type of stuff since we got him as a coming 2 year old. He grew up in an environment where he was taught from a young age how to manage “weird or uncomfortable” situations with logic and always asking the human, is this the correct and safest answer?
You can’t hear it well in the video, but Lacy is giving Frankee several verbal queues but also giving him moments to think and rationalize the situation on his own. #selfcarriage
We think he handled the situation wonderfully! Relaxed, inquisitive and dare we say, looking like he was making a bit of a game out of it! #makeitfun
This is just some of the situational training we do with our horses daily. We don’t want just competitive horses in the show ring, we want well versed, logical and clever equine partners.

If you know this story of this horse, you know how big of a deal this is. When we got him a few years ago he was nearly unrideable- and when you could ride him, it was a mess. Rearing, spinning, stopping….you name it, he did it. After many hours of re-training from the ground up and coming back from several health set-backs, it was so satisfying to watch him go around again! We are looking forward to 2024 with Mr. Goose!

We loaded a few horses up yesterday to head the @the.no.show.show in SJC. Alyssa Karle and Chanella got to get their feet wet in their first 1m10 class in preparation for the 1m10 Ch/Adult Jumpers next year!

Horses….you’re either training or un-training them. Train them the proper response to pressure in all environments. ALL my horses-Grand Prix horses to school horses, are good on trails, and most came NOT being good on trails!
Trail riding is arena riding with no fences. You don’t just rise to the occasion, you sink to your level of training and experience.
