Please welcome Lucy to DOGzHAUS from North Central shelter.
Lucy is 12 years old with several medical issues and her hind legs are very weak. She arrived North Central shelter as owner surrender a while ago. I was notified about her about 2 weeks ago and I was hoping she could be rescued soon.
Yesterday, I still saw her in the shelter so talked to the shelter rescue coordinator and the supervisors.
She didn’t have much time there. Am I up for adding more dogs here? I don’t know. But I have to try. I always figure out. And once I say yes, it means I commit for the dog no matter what problem may come to us in the future.
I am not a perfect human being. But my commitment for a dog is always 100% with confidence.

Good Early Wednesday Morning from DOGzHAUS Ranch.....
Pledge needed!
So.... we are committing to rescue this boy. He was going to be euthanized after 4 pm yesterday... and the shelter did not accept the extension. If you can donate, please pledge on the comment space below. This dog is still in WLA shelter but schedule to leave for our ranch this afternoon.... I won't collect any donations until we actually have the dog with us.
Being a rescue, you know, things sometimes happen very quickly to save one dog. I really thought he was going to be euthanized yesterday. I basically decided to take him at 3:58 pm... 2 minutes before his dead line.... I watched this video at 3:55 pm... and cried to know he is dying soon. Because he had few bite incidents in the shelter and quarantined 3 times. From the video, I did not think he was a biter. I was sure he was being scared in the shelter.
At 1:14 pm: I received a message from a WLA shelter volunteer who cared for this dog so much. She said his exit due was at 4 pm today or he would be euthanized. I said my rescue was full and could not take more.
At 1:32 PM: A different volunteer contacted me for this dog and sent me this video
At 1:39 PM: Other WLA volunteer contacted me but my answer was same
At 1:42 PM: the first volunteer person contacted me again and there was a rescue for him but no foster, so if they could board him at my boarding kennel. I said yes. He can come here as a boarding dog but I could not take him into my rescue. (My rescue and My boarding kennel are totally different company so I don't use a boarding kennel for my rescue dogs) I was relieved he was being rescued.
At 3:18 PM: I got contacted again and was told that the rescue backed off because of his multiple bite history.
HE HAD ONLY 42 MINUTES..... and NO RESCUE COMMITMENT....
Sam said "lets go to pick him up".... well, it does not work like that.
I am very responsible to commit for all my rescue dogs. I need a plan. I need to pull first
Good Wednesday afternoon from DOGzHAUS Ranch.
It is still hot outside during the day but the temperature goes down to 60 degree in early morning lately. Fall is coming and the color of trees is getting changed at DOGzHAUS Ranch.
Last year, we had many senior dogs in our sanctuary and sadly, many of them left this world. This year, we have more younger dogs. So our current senior dogs have their senior time alone sometimes.
Athena is 14 years old German Shepherd from North Central shelter. Woofie ( formally Big Noah) is 12 years old Husky/Wolf? from Downey shelter.
Woofie was so sick, weak and could not even get up when he was rescued about 3-4 weeks ago but his condition has been improved a lot, got gained some weights and is enjoying his life again now.
I don’t know why a senior dog is so stubborn. Maybe not so different from people. They give us smile everyday.
Please stay safe and healthy.
Good Sunday Evening from DOGzHAUS RANCH.
Skeeter ( husky) is completely blind. BUT he walks like he can see when his meal time comes....
since Skeeter and Monkey ( little spaniel dog) eat in their crate because they are slower than other Shepherd we have, when his meal is ready ( they are having Honest Kitchen dehydrated food, Nutro Wild Frontier puppy dry food and rice mixed tonight), he leads me to his room 🙂
We sometimes forget he is blind.
We felt sad when we could not save his eyes.... but he has been adjusted pretty well after his eye removal surgery. A blind dog is amazing!!!
Skyler is safe.
Welcome to DOGzHAUS Rescue. Skyler arrived DOGzHAUS Ranch and met few of our dogs.
Except for his glaucoma, he is a regular pup who loves to play, sleep, chew, bark and poop.
His happy active personality keeps everybody here very busy. I normally post a freedom “picture” but it was almost impossible to take his picture today. He is asleep or non stop moving/running!!! A very precious puppy.
So I’m posting a freedom “video” this time. He is going to visit our eye specialist and see how soon he needs his eye surgically removed.
He is finally asleep now and it gave me a little break to post his freedom 🙂 it reminded me how it was when my daughter was baby.
When I was at the shelter carrying Skyler in my arms, almost everybody including small children looked at us and said “look!!! Puppy!!!” But as soon as they noticed his eye, they posed, turned and tried not to look at us. It made me very sad. Skyler loves everybody though......
Ross update 10/02/2019
What a transformation!!! Do you remember Ross? He was rescued from Downey Shelter about 2 weeks ago. He was terrified in the shelter and we were told he was “a biter.”
He was Rescue Only and received 48 hrs notice. ( means he would be euthanized if he was not rescued)
It took him few weeks until he decided to open himself to us. He was very “shut down” and “rejected everything” first week with us.
Few days ago, something clicked with him and he decided to be a big kisser instead of a biter! Look how happy he is. He is still having kennel cough ( has been treated) and I don’t allow him to play with other dogs yet. He is still isolated from other dogs at DOGzHAUS Ranch. I can’t wait to see him playing and running with other dogs.
Kama swimming
A three legged dog swimming... This is Kama. He joined DOGzHAUS RESCUE last December. We did not know what to expect because he was not just a three legged dog but also was rescued from Tehran, Iran. He was a very lucky dog to be rescued by Iranian rescue team and got a ticket to fly to Los Angeles for finding a better life. He had a lot to learn. He was not easy. Everything including the life style, food, climate were new to him. He had to learn how to live in the house with people... and cats... The foster made a lot of efforts in daily basis and never gave up. He was recently adopted by the foster and has been having a great life. He is very loved. When we had his official adoption process, the adopter said "thank you for giving him a chance" but I am actually the one who thank everybody to give me a chance for being involved with him. He had a long journey.... went through a lot... lost his front leg... but still loved his life very much.... Kama and his adopter taught me a lot. Thank you. I was in tears when I watched this video. Way to go, Kama!!
Ash Update on 05/15/2017
Amazingly, Ash is coming around better and I see some improvements everyday.
A terrified puppy who didn't want to even touch a toy started looking for my tennis shoes all the time to chew. He got our daily routine and looks forward to his meal time. When the meal time is close, he comes to me with a cute smile. He didn't even try to come to us in the beginning ( 3 weeks ago) so it's a big improvement. Today was the first time he came play with me this way when I videotaped. We are so happy to see him being a normal puppy. Once he is more comfortable on public, he will be available for adoption :-)
Ash update on May 3
It's been 2 weeks since he was rescued. A sensitive puppy, Ash, was terrified, weak and depressed in the beginning. A time, love and my pack have been helping him and he seems a lot better lately. He is still afraid to go out and it will take a time to heal his heart, but he is being a puppy in a pack, learned how to kill his toy ( lol) and started feeling a lot better to be pet. We are patient and hope he feels completely okay someday.
Ash update on April 25, 2017
He has shown some improvements and started understanding my hand does not hurt him but give him love. He did not know how to be around other dogs in the beginning. He learned a lot to be in a pack and has enjoyed playing with them. When we have an individual time alone, he is still nervous. But he wants to trust again. He is still under weight and his legs are weak. He needs few more weeks to feel better mentally and physically.
