Tucker!! So glad to see this sweet energetic boy again! 💚 Tucker has lots of energy and likes to explore using his nose, so on our walk today we played some sniffing games. You can do this anytime to make your walks more enriching and to get your pup engaged with you. Some key enrichment takeaways from this game are 1) expelled energy through sprinting 2) use of nose (doggy superpower) by searching for treats 3) engagement with handler during walk. Most of all remember to have fun! Now get out there and play with your puppy! 💚🐶
Ooooweeee, yesterday was a hot day!! 🥵 too hot for day time dog walking that’s for certain! This is Sammy, isn’t he so handsome?!! 😍😍. So what can we do to help our pups get some time outdoors, get mental and physical stimulation, and feel fulfilled on hot summer days? Here are a few options …. 1) find a shady spot and allow them to do some foraging with a low calorie treat. Foraging and sniffing are natural behaviors and can be very satisfying for dogs. 2) play some inside games like treat toss and work obedience training into it. This will exercise their mind and their body 👍🏻. 3) Do 15 min of training and treat toss outside… just keep a kiddie pool nearby for them to cool off. That’s why Sammy has wet ears haha 💦
Are you looking for an effective but easy way to help your pup gain some confidence? Ask them to jump up on unfamiliar objects… SAFELY. Nothing wobbly or scary. A bench will work. Jumping up and jumping down with success can help boost their confidence! Sydney is a very confident boy (and handsome too 😍) but you will see there is one bench he wasn’t happy about…. And that’s ok. We just gave a good boy for trying and moved on. We’ll try again next time 😊
