This one is kinda lengthy but here we go. We have owned this mare since she was two years old and she is eight now but she broke her ankle as a three-year-old. It wasn’t anything that time couldn’t heal so I gave her plenty of time off and then her five-year-old year we noticed a knot was growing, just above the hairline on the outside of her ankle. Several x-rays later to confirm what it was but she has a massive bone spur that is in her foot and has totally changed her hairline and deformed the hoof overtime. It has caused her heels to deform and has sunk her frog to where it no longer comes in contact with the ground, I have taken a 3-D pad and inverted it to give frog pressure which will help give structure to the back side of the foot and increase circulation. She is a phenomenal heel horse and breakaway horse and with this set up, she is able to be sound and comfortable to do her job.
