Friends, I have a special request. Please say a prayer for my sweet Havana. She has been missing since Thursday evening and I just cannot imagine life here at Azure Farm without her.
She was my first baby and is 12 years old. She is sneaky and went outside late Thursday which shes never allowed to do. She is an indoor cat and has never come back.
I am praying she is just hiding somewhere and comes back to us. Thank you friends! am grateful.
Chilli says hello! A good day here at Azure Farm and hoping your day was wonderful too!
Any plans for the holiday if you're in America? Much love friend!
Let’s talk companion planting!! Whether you live on a sky rise with a patio or have a large outdoor garden here is a perfect combination of plants you can grow together! Keep reading to see why I plant these together and their benefits plus tips on companion planting!
I always try to incorporate these three things when planting!
0. Veggie
0. Herb
0. Flower
Why Companion Plant these together? Companion planting can be an organic way to protect your crops from pests! It can also help with pollination.
I ensure all my garden beds have combination of all of the above. Some beds have multiple herbs, and some have multiple flower varieties. But having at least 1 of each will help keep pests away and promote healthy plants.
Tomato & Peppers- Both are members of the night shade category and are okay to plant together in small or large spaces. They can however attract the same pests so be sure to rotate your crops and not grow them in the same space each year. Both require full sun and hot temperatures making them good side by side companions.
Marigold- are known to be good insect repellers. They are especially good at keeping hornworms, aphids, whiteflies and thrips away from tomatoes. They also release a substance from their roots that wards off nematodes and eel worms, which target peppers
Basil- Repels flies, hornworms, aphids, houseflies, and even beetles. and has even been known to improve tomato plants yield and flavor.
Onion- You can’t see them in the picture but there are onions planted on the end of this bed as well. Onions are great at repelling insects and are wonderful to companion plant with.
This is just 1 example of things that can be grown together and why! What I love most about this is how perfect this combination is for container planting. If you have yet to plant anything this year year to your local nursery buy these plants and put them in a pot!
Happy Planting Friends.

Let's do a little canning class together shall we? I love using @ballcanning approved recipes and this Raspberry Chocolate Jam does not disappoint! It's DELICIOUS and lower in sugar than most jams.
I walk you through the steps and add some tips so SAVE this post to refer to the nest time you can.
YOU WILL NEED
6 8 oz Quilted Crystal Half Pint @ballcanning jars
8 cups fresh or frozen raspberries
1/4 cup lemon juice
2/3 cups pure cocoa powder
6 Tbsp. Ball® Classic Pectin
4 cups sugar
DIRECTIONS
Prepare boiling water canner. Heat jars in simmering water until ready for use. Do not boil. Wash lids in warm soapy water and set aside with bands.
Combine raspberries and lemon juice in a large stainless-steel saucepan. In a small bowl whisk cocoa powder and pectin together; add to raspberries stirring to combine. Bring mixture to a rapid boil over high heat, stirring frequently. Add the sugar and return to a full rolling boil that cannot be stirred down, boil hard for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Skim foam if necessary.
Ladle hot jam into a hot jar, leaving a 1/4 inch headspace. Remove air bubbles. Wipe the jar rim. Center lid on the jar, apply band and adjust to fingertip-tight. Place the jar in the boiling water canner. Repeat until all jars are filled.
Process filled jars in boiling water canner for 10 minutes. Turn off heat, remove lid and let jars stand 5 minutes. Remove jars and cool 12-24 hours. Check lids for seal, they should not flex when center is pressed.
I hope this post is helpful to you! Let me know any questions you may have below 👇🏻! More canning recipes coming soon!

To some this might look like a bunch of grass and weeds, but if you look closely you’ll see what I see!
A beautiful relationship between plants. Onion, beets, and garlic planted close together. Each happy and carefree amidst the other but serving a purpose. Companion planting is such a great way to help you work smarter in the garden, not harder.
Beets grow well with Alliums such as garlic and onions. Alliums are great because they help repel many mites, grubs, and aphids that like to much on beets. Garlic also releases sulfur into the soil as it grows which provides anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties to the soil. Sulfur happens to be essential to adequate beet growth as well!
I have found that veggies work best when they have a friend! Isn’t it the same for us? Having friends around is always best!
I hope to share more real life images of the companion planting I do here at Azure Farm in hopes to inspire you to do the same!

There is something so therapeutic every time I walk into the garden. Even if I'm pulling weeds the smell of soil and plants is familiar and comforting.
The sound of birds and sight of bees bring happiness when working in the sun. They all work together in harmony amidst the color and beauty the garden brings forth.
Summer planting is in full swing and it's a magical time. Yes, this picture has some added elements but it helps bring to life how I feel when I step into the garden.
Follow the @thegreatgrowalong to see what growers across North America are growing and stay tuned for a full update next week of all that's growing!
What outside scene brings you happiness??

Have you ever heard a turkey drum? It used to freak me out but now I find it to be one of the comforting sounds of farm life. What do you think?
They make this guttural sound by forcing air up from their bodies.Animals are amazing!

I believe we were created to enjoy this earth and to take care of it. Man was placed in a garden among the trees and plants to care for it. Animals were to be his friend.
That is what I love. To be among nature and give back to the earth in whatever way I can.
It's my joy to celebrate this earth every time I step outside. I encourage you to do the same 🌱
