Due to the cold temps the dirt has been hard and we haven’t been doing any high impact work. With this recent warm up we’ve been able to do a little more, given there are still some hilly spots that need to be drug.
It’s been very unusually warm here in upstate NY for days now. Although it’s appreciated we are looking at another quick dip in temperatures tonight which always makes me nervous. EZ has been having fantastic rides lately and in the video I am taking advantage of the warm winds to dry him up before blanketing for tonight’s lows.
Cowhorse “showmanship” just because 🙂
Progress video for 2 year old EZ. Now that we know how to be soft we are working on staying soft and getting more body posture involved. I’ll use this martingale for less than a week just to get him understanding what I want him to do. Then it’s up to him to “go there” when I ask, and eventually stay there.
More progress for EZ.
I mean. We don’t really have that shoulder yet, but I’d say it’s a great start!
Practicing loping vs extension and back down in speed again. Please excuse my bouncy self as Cam is a bit of a rocking horse right now since we have been working on getting some lift in that front end and really working to get that back leg to swing under. He has nailed that and now we are working on keeping our shoulder from leaning to the inside, as well as continuing to get softer in the face at the lope.
Practicing some trail obstacles.
Showing off our extended trot back to jog transition.
“Strutin The Gossip” aka Cam
Cam and I are really working on that body position body through the lope. Sand Hill StablesBekah Miller Performance Horses#strutinthegossip
Journey “invited to strut” has moved up from riding in the round pen to riding in the indoor arena. Ride number 5 shown in video.
Well. We’re getting somewhere. Loads of improvement daily on this one (3 y/o pleasure gelding named Cam) although I’ve never met a horse that was so lazy about how he carries himself at the lope. The last two days he has really started to figure it out (and figure out that maybe it is more comfortable to frame up). You can see the good and the bad in this video. But hey our bad isn’t so bad anymore.
We’ll be working on transitions next and more showmanship.
Hope to have this one ready to sell by August. (Haven’t been able to let him go yet! ❤️)
