We are hosting the 2024 Area II Championships next weekend (Oct 4-6) and we are in desperate need of help. We can't run these big events without the help of our amazing volunteers!! On Friday and Saturday, after the end of competition, we will be holding 2 parties for our competitors and volunteers to show just how much we appreciate you!! Friday night's reception is sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim and Saturday's party is sponsored by Denise Parsons of Hagan Realty.

We have new long sleeve logo wear shirts for everyone! And if you volunteer Friday AND any other day (Saturday or Sunday) you will earn one of our new white/silver MDHT/LMF jackets (photo attached). This logo wear is IN ADDITION TO the schooling pass or gift certificate or raffle ticket for VIP 5* package that we have offered all summer to our volunteers. Dressage volunteers will also earn an entry to our next Pick Your Time/Test dressage show on October 26.

If you missed our early-bird closing for September's Pick Your Time/Pick Your Test and Blue Ribbon Show Jump Rounds (taking place September 21) GOOD NEWS we have extended the closing date to this Wednesday Sept 18! Giddy up and enter now without any late fee! Many sections/times are down to just a couple of open spots, so don't wait any longer!

Dressage tests are $40 each and Fix-A-Test rounds are $65 each, and as always, you will receive immediate feedback at the end of your test! Judges for September are Donna Gatchell and Jane Seigler. Fix-A-Test is like a mini dressage lesson -- you'll do your test, get your feedback and then you can ride the test again if you wish.

Para-Dressage, Gaited, Western Dressage & Young Horse Tests are WELCOME and ENCOURAGED!

Blue Ribbon Show Jump Rounds are $35 if you enter before the show, with extra rounds on the day (time permitting) for $40/round. Find your height and come jump around within that time frame!

➡ Make a day of it and school our cross-country field as well for $65!

We are so excited to announce that Jim Newman, long-time volunteer, has stepped up to provide prize money for the Area2 championship at USEA MDHT3.

Witherspoon Analytics Inc. is a privately held commodity trading company specializing in agricultural products listed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

James B. Newman is the Chief Executive Officer. Jim is an active member of the USEA Membership Committee and is Vice Chairman of Area II. You can normally find Jim most weekends in the start box at an event somewhere in Area Il. In 2020, he was the USEA Volunteer of the Year.

We at Witherspoon are proud to support the Area lI Championship Division winners and to support the efforts of the members of the excellent Loch Moy Team who are hosting this championship event.

Calling Volunteers for this weekend! Come help out and have a fabulous day or two with us for the MDHT Highland Series Horse Trials!

If you're not competing this weekend in our MDHT Highland Horse Trials would you consider volunteering? We're looking for volunteers for both Saturday & Sunday, mostly in the show jumping arena.

Volunteers who work a full day will receive your choice of:

A Schooling Pass good on XC schooling course by entrance, SJ rings, dressage rings, gallop track, indoor, river trails, and the Competition course on specific days. This pass is non-transferable outside of the family. The expiration for all passes and certificates will be 6 months from the date of the event.

OR

A raffle ticket for a chance to win a 2024 Maryland 5* 2nd Tier Event package for 2 (4 days, including hospitality) Thursday, October 17 -Sunday, October 20, 2024, OR $1,000, your choice. No limit to the number of raffle tickets in lieu of a schooling pass.

OR

A $65 gift certificate issued to yourself or a person of your choosing, good for xc schooling course, all weather rings (when available), or competition course schooling ($65 value), indoor ring schooling, SJ schooling, dressage ring schooling or MDHT/LMF logo wear. Also good as a $65 value towards an unrecognized event/show at Loch Moy Farm. All gift certificates are good for 6 months from the date of issue. No exceptions. This option is available to volunteers up to 3 times per year.

🚨 Calling ALL breeders & owners of young horses! Our NEW Bred To Event Classic Qualifier, taking place August 17 & 18, is open for entries!!

JUDGES - Sally Ike (one of the 2024 YEH Championship judges that will be held at the Maryland 5* in October), Kim Severson, Susan Graham-White, Cindy Anderson-Blank

Following on the successes of past East Coast Future Event Horse Championships, we are investing in expanding our Young Horse program here at Loch Moy Farm.

This month we will host the FIRST Bred to Event Classic Qualifier. This Bred to Event series will be an opportunity for breeders and owners alike to showcase their decision-making and horsemanship through the young horses they show.

On Saturday:

A) We will have In Hand Classes for Yearlings and Two Year Olds. Because we will use the Jump Chute pen (with no jumps in it), the owner or their own handler can stand the horse up for the conformation and then walk their own horse. For the trot and canter the horse will be turned loose in the safely enclosed space. No professional handler needed.

😎 For the three year olds, we will do as above for each horse’s conformation and gaits; and THEN place the jumps in the chute for each horse to jump, starting small and building up.

On Sunday:

C) For the 4A Division, the less experienced horses that are 4 years old; we will have an Under Saddle class in the arena up top where the gaits are evaluated in small groups first. Then the saddles will come off and their conformation looked at. After a short break, these horses will go to the Jumping Chute pen and free jump through the 3 jumps.

D) For the other 4 year olds and all of the 5 year olds; we will again have their Under Saddle classes by age, in small groups, with the same format as the 4A class. For these horses, there will a small break after their under saddle class, then they will go to the Derby Course on Cross Country, where they compete one at a time. In a Derby course, show jumps are mixed in with cross country fences and each fence is scored by the judges. There will be different heights appropriate to the 2 ages.
