Pictured is our new 10 x 16 outdoor shelter for the outside cats. We are very thankful for this donation because it is an answer to a prayer. During the recent hurricanes, our feral shelter was damaged by a large oak branch that split the roof open. No help from FEMA due to having insurance on the property. Having a high deductible on homeowners didn't help so the roof was left to leak while other parts of the property had to be cleaned of the tree debris.
Fast forward to the recent snow/ice event. We knew it was coming and had numerous styrofoam, straw lined coolers all over the property as well as three Clawsible shelters plugged in. I felt so bad for my outdoor cats and just prayed they would all be safe and warm til the storm was gone. I did ask God for a shelter for them, too. I had been watching Facebook Marketplace for one.
Well, about three days after the storm I got a call from some folks that I had helped with a mama cat several months back. They had a shelter they used for their feral cats and two dogs that they wished to donate to the rescue since they were moving very soon to another home. What an answer to a prayer and I could not thank God enough!
And here is our new shelter! The kitties have already claimed their new digs.

Big thanks to the City of Nashville shelter and Tara Parker for the 2 pallets of dry cat food. Some of it will be given away to folks in our area that didn't have a chance to get to the pet food giveaway in Cook County. Some of it will go to several TNR feeder groups in Tifton next week. And we will have cat and dog food at our food pantry at Adel Wesleyan church next week.

Here are some of the outdoor cats we are feeding daily at the kitten farm. They all made it through the storm. Most of these cats either came from local shelters or owner surrenders to the rescue. They get a chance to live their life out here with shelter and food.
The roof on the green colored outdoor shelter was damaged by a large oak branch and will have to be repaired. It will be replaced with better materials and the screening will have new covers for when the cold arrives.

One of our indoor rescue cats, Ms. Citrus, babysitting the little ones that we recently picked up this week. Picking up more orphans today.

Here's a picture of Augie. He was well taken care of by his previous owner and came to the rescue last Thursday. He is a chatterbox. Well, Augie is going to a great home with 2 other cats and some young fellas that help us keep the senior shelter clean for those kitties. He will be safe and loved.

Didn't get around to thanking everyone for the birthday wishes. The last two days saw an intake of 4 adult cats and 12 kittens. One cat in particular that I picked up yesterday came from a gentleman that lost his home and left his 2 cats in a colony. He came back to feed them every day but found one of them shot one morning. I don't know how he got my number. I met him in Valdosta yesterday to pick up Augie. Very nice, friendly kitty and very healthy. Augie has a home here. I wished the man better times for his life. So many people falling on hard times and trying to do the best for their pets.

A Walmart delivery driver dropped a big bag of cat and dog food off at the kitten farm yesterday. She didn't have any info on the donor so I send out a big thank you to whomever did. Dry food is especially needed at all times!

Day 3 after surgery and the seven kittens are doing so well. Eating and playing like kittens should. Thanks to Dr. Marty and Southside Veterinary Center for their surgery and care.

Seven kittens are having eye surgery this morning. At least one eye will be removed by our attending vet in Moultrie. In actuality, there were 10 kittens and 4 adult cats DUMPED on the Humane Society property. Abandonment of an animal is against the law. These kittens have gotten a raw deal of neglect because eye issues can be addressed with proper meds.
A rescue coordinator for Paws was asked to help with the case when the 10 kittens went to the vet's office. She began reaching out to other rescues and Humane Societies in the south Georgia and North Florida area. Most of the answers were negative for help. All are full or have ongoing cases they are attending to with their funds. But Paws stepped in when the answer from one local Humane Society director replied "to bring the kittens to them and they would put them down". In my opinion, not an answer I want to hear from a big bucks animal shelter.
Here we are then to do a fund raiser for these neglected kittens for their surgeries. We don't have the total cost as of yet but a ball park figure is about $1400. They are undergoing surgery as I post this. Any amount you would like to donate goes on the surgery bill and after care.
