A Walmart delivery driver dropped a big bag of cat and dog food off at the kitten farm yesterday. She didn't have any info on the donor so I send out a big thank you to whomever did. Dry food is especially needed at all times!

Day 3 after surgery and the seven kittens are doing so well. Eating and playing like kittens should. Thanks to Dr. Marty and Southside Veterinary Center for their surgery and care.
We still have a fundraiser going for the vet bill. You can call a donation in to the vet hospital (229-985-7377) or send it to paws [email protected] on PayPal. We are a 501c3 and it is tax deductible.
These kittens will enjoy life on the kitten farm. And special thanks to all who have donated so far.

Seven kittens are having eye surgery this morning. At least one eye will be removed by our attending vet in Moultrie. In actuality, there were 10 kittens and 4 adult cats DUMPED on the Humane Society property. Abandonment of an animal is against the law. These kittens have gotten a raw deal of neglect because eye issues can be addressed with proper meds.
A rescue coordinator for Paws was asked to help with the case when the 10 kittens went to the vet's office. She began reaching out to other rescues and Humane Societies in the south Georgia and North Florida area. Most of the answers were negative for help. All are full or have ongoing cases they are attending to with their funds. But Paws stepped in when the answer from one local Humane Society director replied "to bring the kittens to them and they would put them down". In my opinion, not an answer I want to hear from a big bucks animal shelter.
Here we are then to do a fund raiser for these neglected kittens for their surgeries. We don't have the total cost as of yet but a ball park figure is about $1400. They are undergoing surgery as I post this. Any amount you would like to donate goes on the surgery bill and after care. You can call the vet's office directly : Southside Veterinary Care at 229-985-7377. The kittens are listed under Paws Furever Home. Our PayPal is [email protected].
The kittens will have a permanent home in the rescue.

Our rescue is certainly humbled to be on the receiving end of this award. We try to help all the local animal control facilities with pregnant cats, mama and babies as well as ferals and semi-feral cats.

A big thank you from the kitties in the rescue to Ted and Susan in memory of our TNR friend John Hunt. The packages of cat food, collars and flea meds from our Amazon Wishlist arrived Friday. A very nice way to remember someone who was our friend in the TNR family.

We were happy to assist Adel Animal Control officer Regenia Wells and the City of Adel with the pet food giveaway. Our volunteers (not pictured) helped check IDs with the persons in the waiting line and directed them to the dog and cat food stations to receive free pet food. Many of the recipients expressed their thanks for it, too.
This generous program is offered by HSUS and Chewy, Inc. through an application process. The purpose of it is to supply pet food to the community so people can feed their animals and keep them out of the shelter system. The high cost of pet food in the stores impacts pet ownership when one has to decide food for the family as well. We are hoping for more future truckloads of pet food to help the community.

Since we have shifted our direction in rescue from dogs and cats to senior cats and TNR ferals , we want to make light of our course correction in the community. We can still help with questions or problems with dogs by referring you to some of our partners in rescue.
We maintain a senior shelter for the cats that have come to our rescue. And we have a colony of feral, semi feral and homeless cats at the kitten farm. We don't hesitate to help the community when needed.
This past December, we lost a true friend to the feral cats and TNR colonies. John maintained a colony of feral cats in the Valdosta area. I don't remember how I met John and his wife but once a year, John would come to visit the cats at the kitten farm and bring a large donation of cat food for them. I enjoyed our conversations and he enjoyed seeing all the cats that have a home here. My friend John passed away in December. His wife has taken over feeding the small colony of cats he cared for. We received a donation in John's name from one of his family members and we would like to thank them for it. I will miss John's visits but I know he is up there in heaven looking after the cats and kittens.

Our monthly food pantry was held on Thursday the 21st at the Adel Wesleyan church. The Humane Society of Valdosta donated a pallet of wet dog food to Paws Furever Home which was picked up from our new friends at the Catko Distributors warehouse. Paws delivered the food to the church for distribution to the community. We also had Temptation cat treats acquired from Second Harvest for the public. Merry Christmas to the community!

Big "Thank You" to the Buck Family for the food and collars from our Amazon Wish List. Package came Saturday but we had a number of church activities and volunteer work before we could stop and acknowledge your kindness to the kitties.

These are just a few of the feral, semi-feral and rescued cats that come to live at the colony farm. They are fed twice a day and have cover in the barn and an additional outdoor shelter. Tuesday is Giving Tuesday. We have always appreciated our donors for your monetary support that feeds these cats and kittens in our care.

This is the senior cat Bella rescued from Bartow County along with Mr. Kitty. Poor Mr. Kitty went right to our vet when he arrived and spent several days there. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 renal failure. When we got him back to the sanctuary, he lived his best for about a week and passed away peacefully. Bella was diagnosed with the same fate. She lived another month enjoying the company of the kittens here until she passed way. Senior cats do not do well at animal control. Our mission from the start up of Paws Furever Home is to rescue the senior cats that we are able to from shelter situations.

Here's why we haven't posted much recently. Mama cats and kittens flooding all the rescues and animal control facilities. We stay busy taking in orphans found outside in a yard, feral mamas with kittens and kittens that don't have a home. It takes extra time to evaluate their health, medicate and get them on a good diet. Any help with food and supplies are greatly appreciated!

Big THANK YOU to SOS Cat Rescue in the Macon area. We were able to get two pallets of dry cat food a few weeks ago. Pictured is some of the dry cat food we supplied to the monthly food bank at Adel Wesleyan church. Some donated to the food bank last month as well. Most of the dry cat food was used by our local TNR feeders in the Adel and Valdosta areas. Much gratitude from the kitties to SOS!
