Herb of the Week - Lets talk about the most commonly recognized of all the herbs, something we all have access to in surplus, the dandelion. Though dandelions are a nuisance to many, invading gardens and seeding everywhere the way they do, they also have many health and medicinal benefits. As far as herbs go, there isn't much the dandelion can't do. It is high in many vitamins and minerals needed for a healthy body, it has also been used to lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, regulate blood sugar levels, aid in weight loss, reduce anxiety, boost immunity, slow the growth of cancer cells, and promote a healthy liver. As dandelion is a digestive bitter, it also is great for digestion, upset stomach, and colon health. Dandelion is high in vitamin k, so it can also be very beneficial for those on blood thinners, and everyone really! What great reasons to love this perennial herb. In addition, dandelion is one of the first food sources for our pollinators during the cooler spring months.
Enjoy all parts of the dandelion, the leaves, roots, flowers and buds are all edible. Eat fresh, or dry and use in soups, teas and tinctures. Be careful where you source your dandelions from, as you want to make sure they are free of herbicides and pesticides.

As most of you know I have a rabbitry in adrian, mn where I raise flemish giants and English lop rabbits. This is just one of my many passions. I have decided to expand The Bunny Burrow and add another focus. I have spent the last several years studying homeopathic medicine and products. The power of plants and herbs is astounding and I want to share my knowledge and products with as many people as possible.
I will be at the Gift and Thrift in Sioux Falls, SD tomorrow as a vendor, as well as expanding my Facebook to make my products more available to the public.
