Hagrid did an amazing job today supporting me and supporting Veteran Service Dog Organization (VSDO) at there annual golf outing. Hagrid and I have been volunteering with this organization for two years in which we take in foster puppies that are presented to VSDO and assist in training the puppy to be a service dog for the veterans that are a part of VSDO.

Hagrid really wants my eggs. He knows he is not allowed to eat off my plate unless I give the "ok" command. Speaking of eggs; eggs have many benefits for your dog. One of them being, it helps keep their fur smooth and shiny and helps prevent nails from chipping. So if you have a dog with some dry skin or brittle nails try giving them an egg in the morning with there breakfast a few times a week. I will crack an egg in the dish on top of Hagrid's food and will include the egg shells as well. Hope this tip helps. Let me know by commenting below.

Whose dog is ready for snow? Hagrid is. If your dog gets colder quicker like Hagrid due to short hair, a sweater or jacket can help your fur babies stay warm. Hagrid also has booties for when we go on walks to protect his paws from salt, hard snow, and ice.

I hope everyone has an amazing Thanksgiving. This being said, some saftey tips for your dogs. We all want to spoil and give our dogs their special thanksgiving dinner.

1. Foods that are ok for your dog to eat are: Turkey meat, plain sweet potato's, plain yams, plain carrots, plain green beans, and plain pumpkin.
2. Foods that's are not ok for your dog are: anything sweet, bones, onions, garlic, turkey skin, gravy, mushrooms and alcoholic beverages (yes some people do this which is why I added it)

Overall I hope you and your family have an awesome and safe thanksgiving.

As you all know it is hunting season which means everyone who hunts wears hunters orange. The same is for dogs. If you are in the woods weather it's for a walk or hunting please make sure your dog has an orange collar or vest. Some dog breeds and colors look like wild animals. There are hunters who are trigger happy and if they don't see orange they shoot. So please keep yourself and your dog safe by wearing orange.

Cold and Snowy Safety Tips for your Dog:
If it's too cold for you it's probably too cold for your dog

1) Paws: The salt used on roads and parking lots can cause dogs’ paws to burn and itch and can be very toxic to your dogs if they consume it while licking their paws. Some ways to avoid dry and chapped paws, poison, burns, and irritation are as follows:
• buying pet safe salt
• booties
• pet balm
• have a dry towel handy so you can wipe their paws and in between their toes.

Not only can you use these preventatives for salt, but they will also help to reduce the risk of frostbite.

2) Fur: If your dog's fur gets wet either from a bath or being outside playing in the snow; dry them off immediately after to decrease the risk of hypothermia. If your dog is an outside dog, please ensure they have a warm place like a dog house so they can sleep and stay warm

I hope these tips help!

There is a lot of wind blowing tonight and sometimes the loud noise can be scary to dogs. So here are some tips to help soothe your anxious/scared dog.

1) allow them to go to there safe place weather that is his/her kennel, place on the couch, your bed, etc. a familiar safe place can help decrease the anxiety symptoms

2) providing background noise like white noise or the T.V or radio etc to help reduce the outside noise.

3) provide your fur baby with toys and treats and of course your love.

I hope this helps and I hope everyone stays safe. 🐾

As you all know Halloween is coming up and I just want to provide you with some Halloween safety tips for your canine.

"Halloween can be a really fun time of year for adults and children. It's not always a happy time for pets though. Many pets get spooked, upset, and go missing every year. Now THAT is no fun.

Follow these 10 tips will help ensure your pet has a safe and Happy Halloween.

1. Minimize Anxiety and Excitement

Know the signs of stress in your pet and if they demonstrate it give them some time away from the action.

2. Be Prepared For Loud Noises

Halloween is known for as many tricks as treats, and there are plenty of sudden loud noises miscreants can cause. This can make already on-edge pets unhappy, so keep your ears open as well as your eyes.

3. Update Your Pet's ID Tag

Halloween can be scary to our furry friends, and holidays are often when we see spikes in runaway pets. Having an up-to-date ID tag and/or microchip is the only way you can be sure that your pet can have a chance to get back home.

4. Keep the Candy To Your Self

There will be a ton of it around, so you’ll want to take care to keep it out of your pet’s reach. They can be sneaky, so be extra cautious!

5. Use Caution When Dressing Up Your Pet

Playing dress up with Fido can be fun, but follow these 10 tips to make sure your pet's costume is safe. Some poorly made costumes can be choking hazards and some can upset your pet if they can't see or hear properly.

6. Be Prepared For Scary Monsters

Even the friendliest and most human-loving pets can be frightened by a goblin or witch at the door asking for a fun-sized candy bar so, again, maybe it’s best if your furry friend is kept in another room.

7. Decorate Safely

Animals love jack-o-lanterns, but they can be trouble, as they’re a great example of a fire hazard. In addition, cobwebs and such can look spooky, but it can also be a tempting choking hazard. Be sure your decorations are out of reach of your furry family.

8. Protect Your Dark-Colored Pets

There will be more people out than normal after dark, and dark or black pets can be especially at risk of being run over. What’s even more scary is that a significant number of black cats disappear every year on Halloween –due to some not so nice people. Don’t take any risks, keep them indoors!

9. Protect Them From Stranger Danger

One of the holiday’s most fun traditions is trick or treating. There’s a pretty good chance you’ll get several strangers at your door that your pet doesn’t know and they might interpret that as something scary. If you know you have an easily excitable pet, make sure you take preventive measures before the festivities start.

10. Guard the Front Door

Many dogs and cats go crazy when there’s a knock at the door or a doorbell goes off; this usually means new visitors and different pets react in different ways. Again, it may be best to keep them away from the front door, as repeated visitors can drive some pets loony."

I hope this helps.
