Callie (Cakepop), Belle (Clementine) and Marie (Custard) adoption update
Their family sent us the nicest message….
I wanted to check back in to again say, “Thank you!”, for all the support provided with the adoption of this small family. They are such a joy, such a blessing to have! I am so glad we included Callie (the mom) in the adoption – it definitely was the right decision. As you can see by the attached photo, Callie loves her girls and they love her. I understand after 4 months, some moms are ready to move on from their kittens, but not Callie – she gives them their space, but is still there for them, enjoying grooming them. They are all super sweet and have been easy to care for. They have bonded well with my wife and I. My previous concerns with Callie are gone…she is social, affectionate, loyal and loves to be petted. I will be at work from home and almost daily she will jump on my desk, between me and the keyboard, looking for some petting time, and then come the purrs. Callie likes to check in on me and hang around with me. Belle just has that sweet look all about her, is laid back, curious, and enjoys being held and petted, with lots of purrs…I hope she stays that way! While they are all explorers, Marie is the more outgoing one. Like her sister, she, too, likes being held, with lots of purrs. Is there such a thing as well-mannered cats? That describes these three. They will explore and sniff, but they do not get into trouble…somehow they understand what they can and should not do, intelligent. They may occasionally lay on the sofa cushion or on the back of the sofa, but countertops, tabletops, chairs and window casings they do not go there. Now, in the night, I will sometimes briefly awake to the feel of paws of one of them, and they will settle in for the night at the end of the bed…just another thing that makes them special to us. We purchased two cat trees for them from Chewy, which they greatly enjoy for play and naps. Their spaying went well – thank you for coordinating/working with Dr. Emily Roberson at Animal Hospital of East Davie. We are happy we chose this practice for their care – a great team there. There was a little ‘adventure’ with Callie with the spaying, though…while her girls seemed to know better than mom, Callie could not stop licking and picking at her surgical wound, so, yup, she got the ‘cone of shame’! Ohhhhh…how she did not like having to wear that! By the next morning, she figured out how to get out of it, but learned her lesson in the process.
