This book is co-written by a veterinarian. It’s helpful for navigating through so much conflicting information out there as well as providing recipes for pup/cat food, shampoo & flea mixes, safe cleaning mixes & more!

“In The Forever Dog, Rodney Habib and Dr. Karen Becker explained that your dog’s longevity starts with proper nourishment. In The Forever Dog Life, they offer simple ways you can help your dog live longer and better from the inside-out and outside-in, including easy-to-follow tools, recipes, and tips.

Learn to prepare healthy, homemade meals your dog will love, with more than 120 nutritionally packed recipes for delicious food bowls, fresh food toppers that supercharge any type of pet food, and nourishing broths and stews that entice the pickiest of eaters. And don’t forget DIY training treats, cookies, jerkies, and chews. Accompanying the recipes are science-rich tips for the best ingredients, food hacks, and tools to use in the kitchen.

But food is only one aspect of a dog’s good health. The Forever Dog Life teaches you how to make your home as healthy as possible, with practical instructions for creating your own non-toxic DIY cleaners, natural disinfectants, and lawn care solutions that can easily replace hazardous chemical-based products that negatively impact our pet’s health. Also included are all-natural recipes for body care, including shampoos and conditioners, skin rinses, oral and ear care, and chemical-free flea and tick solutions. Habib and Becker make it easy to incorporate their science-backed tips into your home, so your dog (and cat!) can live a long, happy, and healthy life.”

🦃🕎🌲🧑🏻‍🎄🦌🛷🎉 In observance of the upcoming holidays, ACMDG will be closed:

-11-23 through 12-1
-12-21 through 1-4

***New appts will be considered 1-15-25 & forward.

11/14/2024

Currently considering new appts January 15, 2025 & forward. On waitlist status, coupled w getting everyone on schedule groomed with the upcoming holidays & breaks. To see if we’d be a good fit, please peruse the below information. Occasionally odd spots do open up if all the parameters such as location & type of groom align.

Be safe & well during the Helene recovery efforts! Happy Holidays!

-In order to see if I can get you on the schedule (officially on waitlist status), I need more basic information. (This is a standard response; ignore items you already provided.)

-What area are you in
-Breed of pup/s
-When last groomed
-Any matting, etc
-Pics taken within the last few
days
-Weight of pup/s
-Any behavioral/health
conditions related to
grooming?

-All communication is accomplished (& in order of preference) via text, email or FB PM. Voice mail is NOT checked & phone calls do not happen.

-A little basic info to make sure we’d be a good fit:

•All pups are required to maintain a methodical rotating EM (every month) or EOM (every other month) schedule. Currently, only EOM appts are possible. If EM are desired, it is suggested to at a minimum start at EOM until a corresponding EM spot opens. After the first appt, if you can’t be there, I need access by some means to keep your pup/s on schedule. Frequent rescheduling does not work with how I run the scheduling. Appt change requests must be made asap & at a minimum 2+ weeks out from your appt if you do not want to incur rescheduling fees. Frequent rescheduling can result in losing your spot on the schedule.
•I have a zero tolerance cancellation policy (see the policies on the website, FB or emails for more information). Rescheduling is an acceptable alternative, however not on a regular basis.
•The groom minimum starts at $120 for one pup & includes up to the first hour on that groom dependent on breed/behavior/type of cut & matting. (For example, Cocker Spaniel/Cairn Terrier/Westie/Mini Schnauzer types: $100 & up + $20 for the first pup so would be $120+ or the doodle minimum is $130, so the price for one would be $130+ + $20 = $150+.) After the minimum is met, the hourly rate is roughly $100/hour during business hours & certain services such as additional nails (for other pups not being groomed) are available. Trip charges may apply.
•All pups must be 100 lbs or less & at a minimum decently behaved. You will still be responsible for all qouted grooming/trip fees etc if the groom can not be completed due to behavioral or health issues. So please, it is important to be honest.
•As per matting policies, moderate to heavy matting is not tolerated as it is unfair to both the pup & groomer. In the event a pup is deemed badly matted, it is likely they will be shaved down to 1/2 inch or less; dependent on what can get through the coat with the least amount of stress to the pup as possible. If it’s just a few that can be easily cut &/or groomed out they will be spared the shave-down (this is up to the groomer’s discretion.). After that first groom, it is up to the pup parents as to how long the coat can be. Pups must be flea & tick free or there will be additional charges.
•Locations traveled to. Some locations require trip charges (see FB or website for further details). Currently the areas appts are being considered in are most of Aiken County (Aiken, Graniteville, Beech Island, Wagener & Warrenville are most commonly traveled to. Windsor & nearby areas are not traveled to as frequently.). Occasionally N. Augusta, Augusta, Ridge Spring, Edgefield & Trenton are traveled to. Other areas may be considered if close by &/or trip charges & grooming fees can be arranged to comfortably compensate for gas, vehicle wear & tear & time on the road. If an entire ACMDG business day or close to an entire day (travel & grooming time) needs to be put aside/reserved for an appt, expect to pay $300 & more (areas or trips approximately 20 min &/or miles or more from Beech Island are subject to steeper trip & minimum charges. For example, Colombia/Lexington areas are 3+ hours of driving & would require an entire day blocked & be a $450 minimum ($150 + of that being trip) w a 1-3 dog &/or 3 hour max grooming time @ approximately $100/hour).

-HOURS: Grooming occurs between the hours of 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Tuesday-Thursday & 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday. Mondays are reserved as a reschedule/overflow day.

-If interested, please be sure to read over the basic information & policies included in emails (also on the website & first pinned post on FB w the Frenchie) as items such as rough pricing, what a groom includes, payment forms accepted, matting policies, rescheduling/cancellations, to operating hours are covered & more.

-If you respond back & agree to the basic requirements & information, or have more questions and you also provide the information requested (minus what you’ve already provided), I will see if I can accommodate you.

Thank you for your interest!

Something to chew on… On a personal note… As it so happens I’ve added more flavonoids to my pups homemade food & have seen some improvements. Between this, Dr Marty, Badlands Ranch/Heigl, “The Forever Dog Life” book & what I’ve researched, I will be adjusting a bit more on the next round.

I hope everyone furry & not are doing as well as expected. As with many, I’m currently wo power. We are all doing well w cold showers & making coffee & cooking in the rig due to having the generator. I consider us lucky to be here & not as ravaged as Tennessee or Asheville areas 😢😢 That being said, for the time being I am of course closed. I will continue reassessing the situation to when I feel it’s right & safe to hit the road again. Thank goodness for all these linemen & folks pitching in!!! Be safe everyone!!!

Pest options to contemplate… Research & use at your own risk.

Four Leaf Rover

“Small Company, Big Heart
When Four Leaf Rover founder Dana Scott's dogs were exposed to poisonous farm spray, she became obsessed with saving her remaining dogs from cancer. While researching the safest and most effective natural remedies with the world's leading holistic vets, Dana saw how one vet in particular was just as obsessed about safety and quality as she was. Dana worked closely with Dr. Patricia Jordan, who carefully and expertly formulated most Four Leaf Rover products.”

Four Leaf Rover is for people who love dogs and the planet. Our pure and natural dog supplements are affordable and sustainable.

Going to throw this out there… Seeing an uptick in popular flea meds losing their effectiveness…. With not being a scientist/vet or having a related degree of any type, this is based on simple observations. Currently it seems to be occurring at higher rates in city/town settings where I’ve seen the local government spray & there’s also an issue with outdoor cats (both feral & not). Wildlife such as squirrels of course can contribute too. I suspect it’s much like the process of how antibiotics & horse wormers have been shown to lose effectiveness.

Pet safety warning… Post originated in 2017. I’ve personally lived in areas of FL where this was an issue as early as 2000… It’s no joke even trying to breathe & the environmental impact is devastating.

“Death follows minutes to hours after exposure to a small amount of this toxin." As the weather gets hotter, ponds can start to have "algae blooms." The water itself can look like pea soup, or like green paint is spread on the surface of the water. Some of these blooms are cyanobacteria, which can produce potent toxins. Many dogs are exposed when they wade in the water and either drink the water directly, or lick it off themselves when they come out. There is no antidote; treatment is supportive and many dogs don't survive. If your dog gets into a pond like this, bathe him immediately. If he has any symptoms, bring him right in to a veterinarian. See comments for more information about signs and treatment. (Many ponds that look like this are not dangerous, but it is not possible to tell which ones are toxic and which ones aren't except by having the water tested; therefore, it is safest to keep your pets out.)”-Clays Mill Veterinarian Clinic 2017

Cyanobacteria is toxic to dogs. Clinical signs are agitation, vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, tremors, respiratory or cardiovascular depression.
