SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare

SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare The SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal welfare is an animal shelter and adoption facility offering affordable spay & neuter services and vaccinations.

Established in 1935, the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare is a private, non-profit organization operating under IRS Section 501c3. We have been placing thousands of needy animals into loving forever homes for over 80 years. MISSION
We strive to improve the lives of companion animals by rehoming abused, abandoned, and neglected pets while fighting for their well-being through vigorous legis

lative effort, humane education, and by offering affordable veterinary care for all. VISION
We envision a world in which every animal has a safe and loving home, access to quality veterinary care, and where the unfailing love and devotion of a companion animal is valued by all. We depend upon local donations to support our efforts to save the lives of homeless dogs and cats in our community and receive no regular funding from state or federal agencies, or from the ASPCA (a completely separate entity). Our success is due to the efforts of dedicated SPCA Albrecht Center employees and volunteers, leadership and support from our Board of Directors, as well as the generous donations and continued support of our community.

Witnessing a pet enduring harsh conditions—whether it’s being chained outdoors for extended periods or left without adequate shelter—it’s natural to want to help. And understanding our local laws and available resources is the first step toward making a difference. Read this week's article to learn what the SPCA Albrecht Center can and can’t do in these situations, and who to call for help.

Every dog has a story, and Mikey’s is one of quiet transformation. While his journey hasn’t been easy, it has been filled with small victories that remind us of the power of patience and love.

Mikey didn’t arrive at the shelter in good shape, as you'll see in a few of the photos below. He was scared, severely underweight, and hesitant to trust anyone. But we knew that all he needed was time. Since then, Mikey has made remarkable progress. He’s bonded with staff, found joy in gentle walks, and even become a calming presence for other anxious dogs here at the shelter.

At seven years old, Mikey shouldn’t have to spend his days in a shelter. He’s a quiet soul who loves being around other dogs, even if playtime isn’t really his thing. He’s happiest in a calm, relaxed environment where he can simply enjoy the moment.

We’ve done all we can to make Mikey’s time here as comfortable as possible, but it’s not the same as a forever home. He deserves a family who will continue the work we’ve started, showing him the love and stability he’s always deserved.

If you’re ready to change Mikey’s story, come meet him. Share his story. Help us find the family he’s been waiting for. Mikey has so much love to give—he just needs someone to share it with🐾❤️

It’s all fun and games until you notice the second set of eyes in the background... 👀 Meet Mirth - King of Hidey Holes, and Gio - Quiet Guardian of the Shadows✨🖤

Both are a little on the shy side, but once they’re comfortable, their sweet personalities shine through! They’re not a bonded pair, so they can be adopted separately, but wouldn’t it be adorable if they went home together? Double the love, double the mystery, and double the cozy vibes for your family!🐱🐾🐱
