Dr. Nadler doesn’t play favorites but ✨Gunny✨ holds a special place in her ❤️ ! Gunny has a rare congenital disease called Copper Storage Disease. Her liver cannot filter copper causing chronic inflammation and toxicity to her liver. Due to her diagnosis and initial complications, she spent a lot of time with us a few years ago! Thanks to Dr. Nadler’s hard work in combination with UF Small Animal Hospital we are happy to say Gunny has been doing great for over a year now and is controlled on a special Copper free diet! Today she came in for her annual exam and got tons of love from us all! 🐾

Dr. Nadler was busy this past weekend at the FVMA conference in Orlando. She not only graduated from the FVMA Power of 10 class of 2023, she was officially sworn into office as FVMA District 2 Representative. 🐾⚖️

We are all deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Officer Leo due to injuries sustained in the line of duty Saturday in Marion county. Officer Leo received the best care possible at the University of Florida but unfortunately evil won.

Are hearts are with all the handlers and officers involved as well as all the health care professionals at UF Small Animal Hospital who gave it their all to bring this boy home.

Dr. Nadler recently got the opportunity to meet with senators and representatives at the Capitol to discuss crucial topics in veterinary medicine that could impact your pet’s future health and access to veterinary care.

Did you know Dr. Nadler is an active member in the FVMA and currently sits on their 2023-2024 Power of Ten board which represents 10 up and coming veterinarians selected throughout the entire state of Florida to continue the advancements in organized veterinary medicine? 🤓🐾

*New Respiratory Disease Outbreak*

We wanted to ensure our clients that with the help of the University of Florida we are staying on top of the latest information coming out regarding the possible new respiratory disease strain affecting dogs. This outbreak has been mainly noted in show/performance dogs and has been noted mainly out West though all states have reported possible cases.

Since this outbreak has received a lot of media attention, we wanted to quickly go over some facts:

1) We aren't sure if this is truly a new disease or just an existing component of our known Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex (CIRDC or commonly known as Kennel Cough).

2) We have not yet been able to establish if this is viral or bacterial since affected dogs are testing negative on our traditional respiratory disease PCR panels.

3) This illness has been shown to have a higher incidence of hospitalization, pneumonia and morbidity than traditional kennel cough.

4) There is no known effective treatment or prevention yet but the vast majority of dogs have a self limiting cough (

Meet Jack. Jack came in on emergency last Monday after sustaining a severe traumatic wound to his chest that fractured numberous ribs and collapsed both his lungs (a condition called flail chest). Dr. Osa and Dr. Hampton were able to stabilize him then perform emergency surgery to close the thoracic wound, stabilize the ribs and repair his collapsed lungs via a chest tube.

We are happy to report Jack is doing great and is on his way to making a full recovery!
