Darryl stole the hearts of us all! This sweet puppy was having chronic diarrhea and failure to gain weight. He was diagnosed with an intussusception. An intussusception happens when a segment of intestines folds in on itself (similar to a hose). The most common cause in a puppy is secondary to intestinal parasites. Darryl underwent emergency surgery where Dr. Nadler had to remove approximately 6 inches of his small intestines. It’s safe to say Darryl is feeling much better!

This sweet baby needed a whole blood transfusion. Puppies are very prone to severe anemia secondary to intestinal parasites. Getting routine f***l screenings at the 8 week checkup can help minimize this risk! After some much needed blood, this puppy was back to her old self!

Dr. Stone received some goodies from a lovely client after saving Chaplin, their cat. He presented extremely sick and unable to urinate. After a procedure to unblock his urethra and some pretty intensive care for a few days we are happy to report Chaplin has made a full recovery! Way to go Dr. Stone and Chaplin is so lucky to have such committed owners! ❤️

As we round out the week we wanted to *shout* a very happy Vet-tech week to our crew! We wish we could capture all they do but what we do know is this hospital couldn't do it without them! So if you see Alex, Ana, Angela, Christian, Davika, Joy, Lindsay or Taylor this week show them some appreciation! 🐾🩺

Though most of us in the area weathered Hurricane Helene relatively ok, our thoughts and prayers go out to all those heavily affected by the devastation this storm caused. Alachua Animal Hospital was able to purchase much needed supplies and Dr. Nadler’s husband, with the help of charter captain Chris Chico Graham of OTF Inshore Charters delivered them to those affected in Taylor County Florida today. ❤️‍🩹
