Veteran-owned and operated by a Vet Tech with 20+ years experience, AMAC is the Bay Area's trusted groomer. My name is Tony Hernandez and I am here to help with all of your pet husbandry needs! I am a combat veteran of the United States Army where I served with the 1st Bn 75th Ranger Regiment out of Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah, GA. We are proud to offer all veterans and senior citizens a 15% di

scount on all of our services at all times. I have a 14 year background in the pet medical field. I started to work in this field when my beautiful male Akita named Damion was diagnosed with cancer. When I took Damion in to see the veterinarian, the Dr. was impressed by the way I communicated with and handled Damion. Beginning shortly thereafter, I started to work in the veterinary field. Since then, I have worked with many different animals, from dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles, birds, and rescued wildlife (my family had the privilege of nursing back to health a baby possum abandoned in our back yard, which was then taken to a wildlife rehab center). We love animals here at AMAC. I completed the two-year veterinary technician program at Carrington College this past year, which was a great academic and clinical supplement to my work experience. I came out of the program knowing that I wanted to find a way to reach people and pets outside of the hospital and clinic environment. While my services are not meant to replace the role of a veterinary doctor in your pet’s life, I aim to remove as much stress as possible from the day-to-day basic needs of your animals. From simple nail trims to administering veterinarian-prescribed treatments (e.g., pilling or subcutaneous fluid administration), I look forward to serving our community. We hope to help create stronger family and pet relationships.

This is the worst matting of a pet that I have come across in a while. I was so sad for Moxie. Her mats were about 3-5 inches thick from the back of her head to her tail covering her whole body! This 19 year old cat was in so much pain but she was so brave through the whole procedure. It took a long time but we got it done and now, hopefully, she is feeling much better and definitely more comfortable.

Magnus's owner is obviously heartbroken. Please send her your warmest thoughts.

08/15/2023

I am sad and sorry to say that Magnus passed away. The ER Veterinarian said that it was discovered just now that he had an enlarged heart which indicates heart disease and presented itself during the grooming process. This breaks my heart into tiny pieces.

08/15/2023

We were just at an appointment with a wonderful cat named Magnus. He started to present with shortness of breath so we stopped and assessed him. We then decided to bring him to The emergency at OakVet Hospital. I just need all of you to send you thoughts and good vibes to Magnus. They are performing CPR!

Our Story

Hi! I’m Tony, Founder and Owner of Alameda Mobile Animal Care and Veteran of the United States Army where I served with the 1st Bn 75th Ranger Regiment out of Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah, GA.

My career in the pet medical field and pet care industry began more than 20 years ago when my beautiful male Akita named Damion was diagnosed with cancer. It was heartbreaking to lose him, however it was through his treatment and steady care that my love and desire to care for animals turned into a profession. Shortly after this life-changing experience, I started to work in the veterinary field and have supported many different veterinary hospitals and clinics since. Some of the animals I’ve cared for include: dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles, birds, and rescued wildlife.

Over the years, I’ve remained current with grooming techniques through coursework at the SPCA San Francisco. From 2011-2013, I completed the two-year veterinary technician program at Carrington College, which complimented my in-the-field experience. I came out of the program knowing that I wanted to find a way to reach people and pets outside of the hospital and clinic environment.

While our services aren’t meant to replace the role of a veterinary doctor in your pet’s life, my goal is to remove as much stress as possible from the day-to-day basic needs of your pets. I firmly believe that a pet’s health can be improved through regular comfort grooming and know that as your partner in their care, together we can make your relationship stronger.
