Need a bang trim or want to try bangs? Save the date and save your bangs for next Saturday, March 29th, when incredible FAAS volunteer Ileath Bridges (pictured here on a break from appearing on ABC7 with one of our dogs for National Puppy Day yesterday), and fellow super stylists Jenene Curtis and Rebecca M. Caplan of Starbaby Studio, 1309 Park Street, Alameda, will be cutting bangs and grooming up that unwanted neck hair for $30, as a benefit for FAAS! All proceeds goes to FAAS 🐾❤️🐾!!! (Click the poster to see alll the details.)

Doors open at 10:30am. First-come, first-served, but they'll be cutting throughout the day so you won't likely have to wait too long!

BTW if you're looking for something fun to do while your bangs are still too long or nonexistent, Ileath is part of an exciting art show today at Jingletown Art Studios, celebrating women artists. It goes from 12 to 6, at 3001 Chapman, in Oakland (just across the Park Street Bridge).

Puppies!!! National Puppy Day is almost over, alas! It seems everyone celebrated puppies today -- even Henley, our very good 4-year-old "puppy." We brought him and two other "pups" to ABC7 News in San Francisco to be part of the morning-long coverage. When he spotted some puppies in a nearby pen on the set, he ambled over, and watched with gentle curiosity. The puppies were enamored! It was heartmelting.💓

Tomorrow we'll have more on the dogs who went, but wanted to send you into the evening with this very sweet photo!

It's Foster Friday!
Today's featured foster Tess has been working hard on some new tricks in her foster home! To meet Tess, submit an adoption questionnaire through our website and call (510)337-8565
Here is what Tess's long term foster had to say about her:
She has such a personality I don’t know where to start. She’s very well behaved in the home and even if I leave food out she doesn’t try to take advantage of the delicious opportunity. She’s always excited to go outside and she can even handle a light jog around the block but that usually tires her out. She’s a great people dog and does well inside the home with multiple people giving her love.

She’s very much a Velcro dog and will always be by your side, whether it’s up and down the stairs or to the bathroom or by your desk she’s there to be a helpful hand. And if you haven’t paid the cheese tax or given her enough pets she will let you know. With that said she’s not the most cuddly dog and likes her own space. She’s recently gotten into playing with toys, she loooves tug of war and destuffing her stuff animals no matter how tough the stuffing is. She enjoys sitting by the TV and watching it with you and sleeping in.

This very strong, energetic guy is looking for an active home with an experienced handler who will take him on hikes, exercise him, and continue his training.

If you're grieving the loss of a companion animal, we warmly welcome you to attend our free Pet Loss Support Group, compassionately facilitated by FAAS’s veterinary social worker Raquel Bernaldo (pictured here hugging her dog).

The next meeting is Tuesday, March 25, from 6 to 7 pm at our South Shore administrative office. Cannoli is looking for a very special person to foster her. She was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, and we would love to see her get out of the shelter and into a home while she’s still doing well. Bentley, our current FAAS office manager, is still looking for the perfect retirement home. This spry senior still has quite a bit of pep in his step and loves to run! He is looking for a quiet home where he will be given the time and space he needs to feel comfortable and bond with his new person. He does ok with other dogs after a proper introduction as long as they respect his boundaries. Kids tend to overwhelm him.

Dionysus is still on the lookout for a place to call his forever home! He’s a 3-year-old German Shepherd who’s ready to bring his calm and loving energy into a family’s life.

✅ He gets along well with female dogs around his size (but doesn’t do well with male dogs).
✅ He loves kids and would do best with older children.
✅ He enjoys outdoor activities and would thrive on hikes, walks, and day trips with his new family!
✅ He’s a calm German Shepherd who doesn’t pull on the leash and checks back in with you if he gets too far ahead.
Dionysus may not be sure about cats, so he might not be the best fit for a home with one.

Meet Our Sweet Girl Makana - Ready for a Loving Home! 🐾

This sweet gal just needs a little confidence boost! She's a gentle soul who, once comfortable, loves affection. Her food motivation is a big plus for training, and she has the potential to be the perfect companion with some and patience.
While she’s unsure in new environments, we believe with the right support and a calm environment, she’ll blossom into a beloved pet. Due to her timid nature, she might not be the best fit for young, rowdy kids, but she’d do wonderfully with kids 12 and up.
She’s got the softest fur and those pleading eyes that will melt your heart. With a little charm school, she’s sure to shine! ✨

This sweet boy can be timid at first, but once he warms up he will be your new best friend. Stark is looking for a quiet home with someone that will give him the time he needs to become comfortable and confident. We think he would do best with calm, older kids because of his timidity. URGENT FOSTER NEEDED!
Our second Foster Friday feature is Derby.
Derby is a sweet dog that is wonderful in a home but does not do well at all in the shelter and we are worried that he may injure himself if he stays here.
He does well with other dogs after a proper introduction but might be too much for young kids. If you are interested in fostering Derby, submit a foster questionnaire through our website and visit our Fortmann location Wed-Sun 11-4.

🐾🐾Its Foster Friday!🐾🐾
Our first featured foster is Dulce. Here is what this sweet girl's fosters have to say about her: She’s been wonderful, kind of like a dog on easy mode. She loves car rides, going on walks and is not reactive to other dogs or people. The only thing she barks at is squirrels in the backyard and around dusk she seems to get agitated by shadows/moving lights. She does have a very loud bark which may be scary for young kids. She is very tolerant of our 7 and 9 year old, who love her.

She has a very chill personality and can lie on the couch (or if its nice, outside on the grass) while we work from home but still has the energy to go on long walks/hikes. We don’t often leave her home alone, but when we do, she just sleeps on the couch until someone gets home. We don’t have to worry about her getting into the trash or any other shenanigans while we are gone.

She loves food and will follow me around the kitchen when I’m cooking and will come running if she hears the fridge open. She will sit and shake for a treat, but that’s about the extent of the commands she follows. She is not a super cuddly dog and will probably be aloof at first but gets very excited when we get home and will give licks of affection and expose her belly for rubs, which she loves.

Overall, she’d make a great pet for any individual or family looking for a first pet.
