Happy update time! Remember Guy Fieri, one of the three "chef" puppies who came to us scared of EVERYTHING (passing through a door, eg) after spending their first months stuck in a crate? They all blossomed at the shelter, and eventually became very adoptable young dogs who eventually all went to great homes.
Guy is now named Butter, and his adopters recently sent us updates on this special boy. We couldn't be happier to get this update! Here's what his "mom," Arielle, wrote us:
We love our little Butter boy and he is just the happiest dog. He and Kona love each other very much so and love to run around the house together.
I am still trying to get him to gain a little more weight, but he has gained much more muscle. His walking has improved greatly but he still trips over himself at times. [FAAS note: Butter likely has a condition called cerebellar hypoplasia. There's no cure but it can get better with time if everything lines up.]
He’s also gotten quite fast when he runs, and often runs into Kona to stop himself.
The more he’s moving, the better he’s getting. On days that I am home, I do my best to walk them over 2 miles. Or to take them to my grandmothers property where they can run around in an enclosed large space.
I’ve noticed he doesn’t run like a normal dog, rather he canters like a horse [FAAS note: 🥰❤🥰❤!!!] and when he really gets going it’s more of a hopping motion. We have some stairs at that property and we’ve been slowly trying to see how he does with them. He’s great at going up…down not so much but we are working on that! Usually he will lean against my leg as we go down together.
He’s the life of the party, everyone who meets him loves him. His stress and anxiety have gone down much more, we still find things everyday that he’s scared of like wooden bridges haha but he has so much more confidence in the world. His new favorite activity is either running after Kona when I throw a ball or to stick his head out the window on car rides.
We are so glad we got him, he really completes the family.
