My experience at Coyote Kennel Club, Inc. yesterday was amazing! I enjoyed judging Junior Showmanship and other classes, and received valuable mentorship on Chinese Shar-Pei from two approved mentors when I was asked to judge Great Pyrenees due to an emergency.
The Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club, Inc. then invited me to judge their breed, which was a wonderful experience. Examining and judging such an impressive breed was truly an unforgettable adventure!
A Huge Thank You to Pamela Tobin and the Board of Directors (Tamra Cox, Stew Hinzt, John Payne, Pat Sullivan, Mitzie Vincentz).

June is coming up quickly and that is our annual backpacking hike into the Trinity Alps outside of Weaverville, Californ...

June is coming up quickly and that is our annual backpacking hike into the Trinity Alps outside of Weaverville, California. We started our first hike into the Trinity Alps in 1990 (35 year) and every year nature give me a different perspective and challenge regarding the annual changes, extreme winters or drought year.

One would think that it might be boring backpacking with the Malamures year after year but we have witnessed Lamas following a lady who is using a walking stick with a bell and the llamas are untethered and following her calmly. I do not know who was more surprised my dogs or me.

Another trip we actually witnessed two bear cubs scampering up and around the tree in Morris Meadow. A fearful and wonderful sight and the mother took them up the side of the mountain away from us.
Another year I watched my Malamute leave a kibble near her bowl and noticed the squirrel waiting until it could run down the tree and grab the kibble. The Malamute knew it was above her in the tree and both played the game of Buff. The Malamute finally fell asleep and the squirrel finally got the kibble.

Then another year we witnessed someone who had a paint ball gun and plastered paint all around Emerals Lake. I was angry that someone would deface this beautiful place.

Another year we witnessed an older bear walking along the trail where we were camped. A tense moment for sure but it appeared to be a very mature male who we were told by a Ranger that it was a 500 lb bear. It was a long night but we survived.

Another year we noticed a large Rattlesnake slither through our Base Camp and climb on top of. Large bolder. We all decided to leave and try to hike back down to the Trailhead. A very long day and we finally arrived at the Trail head at 10:00 pm. Exhausted, hungry and safe.

So what is in store for us this year???? Maybe I will see my Lavendar Butterflies 🦋, lush valley of ferns, watch the chipmunks scamper around Emerald Lake, listen to the quiet stillness, fall asleep to the sound of the river, and see the deer walk by the campsite and graze in the meadow.

So this is how I celebrate my Birthdays and appreciate nature and its beauty!!!
