Friend listed Minnie available in Idaho

❗Update: On her way to her new home! Yay for Minnie!❗
Minnie just turned five years old. Spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations, crate trained, housebroken. She needs a home where she can be queen bee. Minnie has a dominant personality. We call her "the fun police" because she tries to control all the other dogs' playtime. Minnie is a snuggler who LOVES sleeping on the bed, or couch, or lap. She doesn't mind well-behaved children but doesn't tolerate rough play.
Minnie would do great with teenagers or older family members who want an only dog to decorate the furniture or go on easy walks.

Every so often, I see a question pop up about whether or not placing retired breeding animals is ethical.
To people who aren’t breeders, it often looks bad or feels icky... like breeders are just tossing away dogs once they’ve been used to produce puppies. Let me give you a different perspective...
I receive messages and see posts from the owners of my retired show and breeding dogs. While their lives are comfortable with me, they now get to live an incredibly loved and spoiled life, many times as an only dog with a family that adores them.
Different isn’t good or bad, it’s just different. They live a different life with their families than they would have with me. They are content, satisfied, and loved with me; they continue to be all of those things, but with their very own people and without having to share those people with a pack of other dogs.
The day I let one of my retired dogs go to a family is HARD. I cry when I let them go... I look forward to updates on birthdays, “gotcha” days, and out of the blue every few months. I see how they are loved beyond measure, and I am grateful every day that my “retired” dogs have been blessed into the lives of the people that love them just as much as I ever did. I’m glad it could be one of mine that they love.
Quality breeders don’t rehome retired breeding dogs because it’s easy. We do it in spite of how hard it is on us because it’s what’s best for them.

Marma’s Cairn Terriers - our purebred dogs are reliable for what they’re going to turn into. With a rescue, you are wondering how they were raised, will they be afraid of this or that, and will they develop disabilities and hip problems or heart problems. We breed very carefully to avoid any of these issues so that we can provide people with dogs with a better chance for a long and healthy life.

That does cost us money for testing the parents and maintaining their health as well. And our verifying their quality by showing them to qualified judges is another expense that goes into the price of these puppies. and we love them as much as you would!

What goes into the price of getting a pup from our program?
Breeding healthy dogs is a labor intensive and expensive process. Routine vet care, DNA testing, OFA testing as well as high quality diet and supplements. Whelping supplies, whelping boxes, emergency equipment. Vet care for puppies, vaccines, check ups. Ultrasounds and xrays. Training, The hundreds of countless hours dedicated to raising a litter. The price I charge for my pups, reflects the care, dedication and intensive man hours I invest in my program. I do not cut corners in any aspect of my breeding program. I strive to produce healthy, well socialized pups and give the utmost care to my dogs. Producing just one litter costs thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours. I try to keep my prices as low as possible without compromising the care. When you buy a pup from my program, you buy a pup from healthy parents, from parents who where purchased from breeders who also health test. My puppies are health tested and clear multiple generations back. You buy a pup that is given the best start possible, with proper nutrition and vet care. You buy a pup that is well socialized with other dogs, and raised in home with constant round the clock care. My dogs live and whelp in my home, and wear out my couch covers! They have time to play outside, running in a yard or half acre field and be just dogs! Pups from me go home with the beginnings of behavioral training as well as litter box-potty training. I send puppies home with vet clearances for health and cardiac exams on all puppies. All pups go home with starter packs that include but are not limited to, toys, car seatbelt, grooming comb., food, records, and lifetime support as well as a health guarantee. I offer lifetime support for ALL my puppies and their families.
