Losing a pet is one of the hardest parts of having furry family members. In honor of all the lost pets this Pet Memorial Day, we’d like to showcase a few local memorial options.

At River’s Edge, we offer private or general cremation, depending whether you would like your beloved’s ashes returned to you.

We also have on display several memorial options made by local artists to showcase our departed ones.

Is your pet nervous about loud noises? The 4th of July 🇺🇸 is coming soon, and that means days of 🎆 fireworks 🎇 and loud celebrations, which can be stressful for our furry companions.

If you think your pet may benefit from anxiety medication during times like this, schedule an exam now to talk with a doctor about options.

All pets must have had a full exam within the last 12 months to be prescribed any medications.

Making the pspspspsps noise around wild animals is not recommended. You may think you’re an animal whisperer, but you just insulted their mother and are now surrounded by a horde of angry squirrels.

In conclusion, pspspspsps pspspsps pspspsps psps pspspspsps! Translation: “Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.” Sorry, we heard that wrong. It’s “Remember to treat wildlife with proper caution and respect.” Our apologies to the hamster.

It’s Dog Bite Prevention Week!

It happens fairly often where a painful, sick, or nervous animal doesn’t act like themselves- same thing with people, right?

Because we never truly know how much pain a patient can be in, we use muzzles to keep everyone (pet included) safe while we work to get them feeling more like their normal selves.

Because dogs primarily breathe through their nose, a properly fitted muzzle should not restrict breathing or cause discomfort beyond the annoyance of a new thing on a pets face.

Bucky and Taren are both excellent and friendly patients, who were happy to model a muzzle for us.

It’s Heartworm Awareness Month! Are your dogs protected from heartworm?

Heartworm is a parasite that is transmitted by mosquito bites, and lives in the heart and sometimes lungs, and can cause previously healthy dogs to experience a heavy cough, a reduction in activity, congestive heart failure, and more.

An annual Heartworm test is required prior to purchasing Heartworm prevention.

T’Challa was kind enough to help Dresden along one of the biggest hurdle of puppyhood- socialization!
Introducing young animals to new experiences in a safe and controlled environment can lead to better adjusted adults, including reduced aggression and reactivity, lower stress levels, and an all-around better life for your furry babies.
It’s important to remember that pets should be vaccinated accordingly, and that you are controlling the situation so that no one ends up hurt or sick.

SEEKING HOME FOR THE CUTEST TERRIER EVER!!

Jack Sparrow is a 2 year old neutered terrier mix that would LOVE to be your new friend! He is an active fellow that preferably needs a home without other dogs (seems fine with cats and some smaller dogs) as he likes to be the ruler of the roost! He was in a shelter and not doing the best and our practice owners have offered him a temporary home with us until we can find the PERFECT home for him!
