MeKayla and Gabe came to work with us through the Work-Based Learning Program. From the moment we interviewed them we knew they were exceptional young professionals. Both MeKayla and Gabe have come to be assets to our team. They have become dear friends and well admired coworkers. Companion Animal Hospital is so grateful to have met these two and we are excited to see what the future holds.

While today was a sad day it was also a day that reminds us why we are in this industry.

One of our beloved clinic cats Suki (The Queen) was diagnosed with a lung tumor on Friday. Despite showing improvement with treatment throughout the weekend Suki declined fairly fast through out the work day. Suki donated her blood and saved a handful of patients during her life at Companion Animal Hospital. She was hard not to love. When she wasn’t napping in the cabinets you could find her stealing seats in office chairs or squishy dog beds. She lived a long wonderful 14 years. She spent the entirety of her life with her brother Llewelyn who is our diabetic clinic cat. While we worry about his grieving of his lifelong partner in crime we are confident he will find comfort in snuggles with the staff and Dr Mitchell.
Her passing was peaceful and she was surrounded by everyone who loved and cared for her.
Being able to send animals over the rainbow bridge pain free is a blessing and that is exactly how Suki left our world. Free of pain. We will miss our beloved Suki but we know she will continue the impossible task of the worlds fluffiest paper weight in spirit.

Due to the increased concern of the new respiratory virus this holiday and the influx of non client inquiries about emergency services Companion Animal Hospital will be accepting non client emergency patients as long as we have cage space for them.

If your pet is experiencing discomfort or illness this holiday please call us at (229)888-7181 and WAIT FOR THE VOICEMAIL to list the the after hours phone number you will need to call. This phone number will put you in touch with a technician on call.

There will be an added fee for after hours visits.

Garth decided to eat a toy and it didn’t quite work out for him. Don’t worry Garth we will fix it!

Y’all need to meet Wanda! Wanda came to us on emergency last week with what was originally thought to be a hit by car injury. After a thorough exam and some diagnostics it was thought she likely suffered from a massive seizure and developed a brain injury from the seizure. Dr. Mitchell called this an ischemic brain injury. It is still a mystery and any diagnosis is an assumption at this point. She originally presented unable to walk and aggressively circling/head pressing to the left. After some ICU care, lots of meds and wonderful TLC by the CAH techs Wanda went home today! She has some recovery ahead but we are so pleased this wonder pup was able to walk out of our doors with a wonderful prognosis. Look in the comments for a cute video of her at home for the first time since treatment! 🐶❤️ Also a little cute side note, her housemate came in for a different work up and she immediately recognized him and walked over to give him cuddles in treatment.

She prides herself on being thorough and explaining your pet's needs in a way easy to understand. We provide physical exams, preventative medicine, dental cleaning, internal medicine, a full in-house labratory, digital x-rays, surgeries (soft tissue and basic orthopedics), an on-site certified groomer who will make your pets sparkle. We also provide boarding, house calls and after-hours emergency service for our clients. Our priority is to provide a great environment for your pets and the best medical care possible. We have recently renovated the hospital to provide a cozy, friendly atmosphere for the whole family. There is a seperate cat and dog hospital under one roof so cats are not exposed to the stress of hearing or seeing dogs. We use soft fleece blankets in our cat cages and boarding areas to keep them more at ease. We also offer jumbo sized condos as an option for our larger boarding cats or to allow multiple cats from the same family to stay together when boarding or to give more room to larger cats. We use Feliway spray (happy pheramones) throughout the cat hospital to help our friendly feline friends stay as relaxed as possible. We also cater to dogs by offering them treats and taking our time with gentle restraint during exams. We do all our large dog exams on the floor so they are not stressed out by placing them on a metal table. We give extra time for nervous dogs and really try to put them at ease. Come check out our amazing adoption pets as we are dedicated to helping place good animals into great homes through our "Adoption Option" program. We adopt many cats & kittens & several dogs dog & puppies each year!!!! We are a licensed shelter and help our local humane societies find homes for many animals when they are over populated.
