Hello everyone!

Important, Please Read:

With the holiday season in full effect and the potential of a new respiratory illness spreading, there are a few things that you can do to help us keep dogs safe and happy. Please make sure you are social distancing your dogs before boarding with us🐶 avoiding dog parks, and other high traffic areas. Also please make sure your dog is up to date on our vaccine requirements. You can view those requirements on our website. If any dogs are showing any symptoms such as, coughing, lethargic, discharge coming from eyes, throwing up, fever, we will not be able to board them.

We have had no reported cases here at Joyful Noise and we are trying our absolute best to keep it that way!

Here are a couple of things that we do as a normal course of business, to help avoid any potential issues. Separate dog play times (dogs will only play in small groups with owner approval at drop-off). Thoroughly cleaning empty kennels in between uses, sanitizing all water bowls and bedding, absolutely no communal water dishes, and thoroughly cleaning our facility on a regular basis.

With all of this in consideration, we are being very flexible with reservations during this time so if you feel more comfortable adjusting or canceling your reservation please give us a call or send us an email.

Lastly, we recommend checking in with your Vet before since they know your pup’s health best🙂

We are continuing to stay in contact with local vets and the Department of Agriculture to stay up to date as best as we can. Thank you everyone for your time and let’s make this a safe and happy holiday season for all! 🐶

We have been in communication with local Vets and the Department of Agriculture, everyone is still in the process of learning more about what exactly this is. To our knowledge, currently the hot spots seem to be Salem and Portland. As always, please make sure your pups are up to date on vaccines.

Well, for those of you I haven't been able to talk to, I need to let you know what's happening.
I will be retiring and moving to Hawaii this month. This has been the very best part of my life, and I want to thank all of you for making it possible. I have never loved a job or a place more. Thank you for supporting my dream. It has been amazing, and I'll never forget any of you or your wonderful dogs you have allowed me to love. Thank you so very much for the past 16 years. It has been my best life, and I couldn't have done it without you. ❤️

That said, Joyful Noise will continue with the staff that you know and love. The new owners, Chris and Maddy, have been learning all of the things and getting to know all of the dogs over the past few months. I have been very pleased with how intuitively they have picked up on all of it, with their work ethic, and with their desire to make this transition as seamless as possible, so the dogs aren't stressed by the change. It's clear that they love dogs, and that's really the most important thing. I think you will be happy with their care, and I know your pups will love them. The routine will stay the same, so your dogs will hopefully not notice anything different. This was important to all of us, because there is comfort in familiarity - for us and for dogs!

Thank you again for being part of my world and for sharing your precious family members with me. I have truly loved them.

Just another kennel cough reminder.

PLEASE do not take your dogs to dog parks within 2 weeks of boarding. They are incubators of viral activity, and even vaccinated dogs can catch it and expose others to it. If you bring it into a kennel, all of the dogs that DON'T interact much with others are very susceptible. Even if they are vaccinated.
This is why we also ask that you PLEASE freshen your Bordatella vaccine if it has been more than 6 months since they received it. If your dog is exposed, this will help their immune system fight it off.

Kennel cough is in the area. Please help us take precautions to protect your dog and all of the others in our care! Thank you!

It's that time again.

There are several outbreaks of kennel cough in the area. We have had a handful of dogs pick it up here as well. Please, if you are scheduled to board, make sure your Bordatella vaccine has been given within the previous 6 months of your scheduled boarding.
Also, if you have a social dog that frequents parks/daycare, please give them a 2 week break from social activity prior to boarding. They may not succumb if exposed, since their immune system is probably great, but they could transmit it to others prior to any symptoms presenting themselves.

Hey everyone - if your dog has stayed with us this month, we need to let you know they may have been exposed to giardia. One of our day boarders discovered they had it without knowing. Several dogs appear to have picked it up. If you see any of the following symptoms, please contact your vet and let them know they were potentially exposed to it. There is medication that is very effective for it.

Most common: Diarrhea... usually pretty gnarly.

Also: Vomiting
Less or no appetite
Dehydration

F***l tests don't always show it, so it's important to let your vet know they were in an area that was known to have been exposed.
We are working on barriers to keep the dogs out of the mud puddles, but at this point it's difficult to know how many were affected before we knew about it.

Another pesky kennel cough post.

I know many of you are told by your vet's office that the vaccine is "good for a year". It isn't. Especially if there's an outbreak in the area, like there is now.

In fact, little anecdotal info.... just had a favorite boarder have to cancel her boarding because her dog caught kennel cough. At home. She hadn't gone to a park or been boarded. Just from contact with neighborhood dogs through the fence at home! She's actually current on her vaccine, so will hopefully recover quickly. But this is how easily it is spread.
I'm grateful she was honest enough to see the symptoms and cancel her boarding rather than bring it here. Just one of the things that makes her a favorite. 😉

Please check your dog's status. If it has been more than 6 months, please freshen up their Bordatella before boarding. Thank you!!
