Dr. Freeland and his staff at Albany Pet Partners are committed to providing affordable spay-neuter, preventive care, basic sick pet care and surgeries for cats and dogs. Albany based Albany Pet Partners is a unique practice in southwest Georgia, now designated a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity. Since taking over this practice in March 2000, Dr. Fred Freeland has developed the special role

of serving as a safety net for cat and dog patients in the Albany area. Albany Pet Partners is a limited-service cat and dog clinic whose mission is to provide affordable spay-neuter and preventive veterinary care for pets whose owners find themselves in difficult financial times or living with limited income due to disability or other circumstances. Our goals are to reduce the number of pets entering our shelters, reduce the number of pets euthanized and increase the number of vaccinated pets in the community to reduce disease risk for all pets. We seek to provide pet owners with knowledge about all care options and costs so an appropriate choice may be selected for their circumstances.

This is a tapeworm. A very large tapeworm vomited up by a very small puppy. Tapeworms are flat, segmented worms contracted by the ingestion of a flea (usually through grooming) or hunting infected animals such as birds or mice. Treatment/prevention is simple, usually just an oral tablet or topical.

Hi, I'm Freddy and I'm pretty proud of myself. I like to think of myself as a take charge kind of cat and this time is no exception. I've been on the street for awhile and have been feeling very bad recently and there wasn't anyone to take me to the Doctor so I decided to just do it myself. I'd been sitting there at the door of the Dr's office waiting to get in and had started to give up hope of getting help when all of a sudden Dr. Freeland saw me waiting outside the door. It's not like I could knock. It really startled me when I heard that lock click and I ran towards the road, if they hadn't grabbed me I'd have run right under those cars. You just don't know how grateful I am that they saved me from certain death. Now I hope that they can help me to feel better because I just feel so rotten lately and I know I can't get well without help. I don't have a job and nobody out there is hiring cats recently so I'm in the position of being a freeloader and I don't like that much. I don't like to take advantage of anyone's goodness like Dr. Fred, but I really need help to get well. He was so nice to me that I took his name since I didn't have one and I think it's a nice name! Michelle told me the number at the clinic is 229-432-0717 if you can find it in your heart to help a down and out kitty. They said I need medicine, vaccines and when I'm better some kind of surgery to make me non fertile...sounds good to me, but what do I know...I'm a cat. Thank you for helping me, Freddy the cat, I'm very grateful for anything you can do to get me well again. ā¤ļøEast Albany Animal Clinic 229-432-0717ā¤ļøThere is an online bill pay on the EAAC website. **DONATIONS NEEDED**
This is Punkin. She has a mass in her stomach and needs an ultrasound and possible surgery by a specialist vet in Tallahassee and it can run anywhere from $2000-3500. Her owner is unable to afford this expensive surgery but desperately wants to save her life. She is only 8 years old and has plenty of years left if we can get her this care. If you would like to donate you can do so by calling us here at East Albany Animal Clinic at 229-432-0717 or by dropping off a check/cash at the clinic during our operating hours. Any amount is greatly appreciated! She needs to be seen asap. Please share so we can help Punkin!

This morning was not cool. I woke up feeling a little under the weather. Getting some food on my stomach so I could take some medicine was not successful. So, I laid in bed with a pounding headache as the nausea started to increase. You can probably guess the restā€¦ šŸ¤¢

I had finally drifted off to sleep when the phone woke me up. The call was soon followed by a text from a person I have never spoken with before:
ā€œI have a feral cat trapped that I would like to have spayed and returnedā€.ļæ¼

Being sick in bed, I couldnā€™t do much to help. Luckily, Kristin saved the day as always! šŸ™ŒšŸ¼ She offered to pick up the cat and get it to us. She and I were able to transfer her from the carrier to a trap safely. Also, taking this cat in means that someone who was planning on trapping today and had been waiting for a spot, wonā€™t be able to try. šŸ˜”

I understand not everyone knows how this all works, which is why this post is so importantā€¼ļø

1. You should never move forward with trapping a cat unless you have experience or you are being assisted/guided by someone who has experience. Yes, we believe anyone can TNR! BUT, you need the right supplies and knowledge.

2. You should never trap an unsocialized cat without having a plan in place for what you are going to do with the cat. ļæ¼Do not assume someone will be available to help you. Trappers are volunteers and have other trapping obligations as well as personal obligations just like everyone else.

3. Never put a unsocialized cat in a pet carrier. The reason they must be in a trap when they go in for their surgery is because they are not able to be handled. The vet staff doesnā€™t want to stick their hand in a carrier with a feral cat anymore than you do! If they are in a trap, the staff is able to use a tool called a trap divider to move them to one end of the trap in order to give them their shot for anesthesia. They do it through the trap and never have to touch the animal which is also less stressful for them.

The good news is, this situation with all its ā€œhiccupsā€, turned out okay. This kitty, who has already had two litters, will be warm and fed this evening and we will transport her to the Clinic in the morning. ā¤ļø
