Well Wednesday was crazy for us but we do have many needs right now so we’re going for “thankful Thursday”? 🐶🤪🐱😂 here are our biggest needs right now! Also we’d like to mention because we know it seems odd.. all shelters battle flies and we have learned from our partners they are using the vanilla car fresheners to deters them. We’ve been placing them in various places outside and corners away from the babies and have noticed a huge improvement! It’s crazy but it works!

Henry wasn’t sure which face would get him a meet and greet with a potential adopter so he gave us.. the ears up, side eye, wink, boop, happy and aspca! What can we say he’s a boy of many personalities but each one is huge! Did any of them work?? Send us a message!
We are so happy to now be partnering with Wickersham's K-9 Ranch Inc. to get our pups a vacation out of the shelter. Apollo is out there living his best life. Thank you guys so much for helping our babies.
Exciting news! We’re partnering with local shelters to host a “Foster of the Week”! Every week, we’ll be fostering a different dog to give them a chance to shine in a new environment. Fostering helps shelter dogs adjust to home life, reduces their stress, and gives them the love and attention they deserve. Meet Apollo, our first star 🌟 Apollo is a stunning 3-year-old husky looking for his forever home. Let’s show him some love and help him find a family! 🐾❤️

These two were found at South Stanly Baptist Church. If these are your dogs please message us.

💙Doggie Day Out💙
Bubba got a chance to get and about today. A sweet young lady reached out and ask if she could take a dog out for the day to have some fun! Bubba has been with us almost 5 months so he was the obvious choice. We still can’t figure out why we still have Bubba. He is the bestest boy and wants to make his people happy. We absolutely adore this boy and want nothing more than to find him the perfect home. If you would like to meet Bubba please email us at [email protected]

‼️INTAKE CLOSED‼️
Over the past week we had an older puppy that had only been at the shelter a few day start showing signs of kennel cough. That pup had been in our general population because when he came in he had no symptoms. Well this morning we had another dog start coughing. So after consulting with our vet and alerting the state we have to close intake for a minimum of 7 days but it could be up to 3 weeks depending on how many if any of the other dogs get sick. We have the dogs showing symptoms in isolation and we are treating them. So until further notice we cannot take any stray dogs or owner surrenders.
We do vaccinate for this on intake but that does not guarantee that even the vaccinated ones will not get sick. We appogize for any inconvenience but the health of our animals and the ones in the community are our top priority.
If you have any questions please fill free to email us at [email protected].
💜AUGUST NUMBERS💙
August was a busy month. Owner surrenders are at all time high, adopts are at an all time low so it is hard to move through the surrender list quickly but we are going as fast as possible. We had 2 euthanasias this month, both were extremely hard. One was a dog we have worked with for months but her fear and aggression just started to get worse and she was so unhappy. She was not even comfortable in her own skin by the end. She was held and loved until she crossed over. The second was a sweet girl who was 15+ and could no longer walk or stand. This was the right thing do for her to end her suffering. She crossed over peacefully while in the arms of those who loved her being told what a good girl she was. We never forget those who we help cross over. They stay in our hearts forever. These decisions are not taken lightly. We thank you all for your support.
We are happy to say Ralph made it out and is currently in a foster to adopt home!
As the weather starts to cool off we would love to have some volunteers to come take dogs out for walks and into the play yard. The hours we need volunteers are from 9-4 Monday-Friday.
‼️CLOSED‼️
We are closed today for Labor Day. We will open back up at 12pm tomorrow. If you have an urgent need please call 704-986-3700 we will not be answering the phone or voicemails today. Thank you for your understanding as we celebrate the holiday with our families.

Such a nice day outside. We are thankful for our deputies who put up our sunshade so that we can get the babies out to play. Both Sissy and Bubba are still looking for their forever homes. They are fully vetted, microchipped and great with other dogs. Send us a message if you would be interested in either of them. They have been here way too long. They are great dogs and super sweet.
We have 5 puppies looking for a forever home! They are very sweet and social and love other dogs! Shoot us a message if you are interested!
Where are all our small dog people? This guy right needs a home where he is the only dog. We also think he would not do well with small children. All he wants is love and attention. Message us if you would like to meet Colt!
🐈Who remembers Audrey? Our sweet little kitten who lost her let arm in a tractor accident. Well her name is now Tippy and someone forgot to tell her she is now missing a leg! This little flying squirrel doesn’t know the meaning of slow down!!
✨SISSY✨ Sissy is a 8-9 month old lab mix. She is just the right size at around 30lbs. She is a high energy pup that loves all people. Sissy has done well with other dogs here at the shelter. She has had all her vaccines and is heartworm negative. Sissy will getting spayed soon but can go to her forever home now. If you would like to meet Sissy please email us. [email protected]
🚨CUTENESS ALERT!!🚨 These 2 sweeties are looking for their forever homes. Madison and Mason had a rough start but are doing great. One of our deputies found them abandoned in the road in the middle of nowhere. Then the next day they came down with parvo and had to be treated. Due to the parvo they had to be in isolation for 3 weeks. But now they are all better and ready for their forever home. They are 10-12 weeks old and the sweetest little ones we have had in a while. Send us a message to arrange a meeting with them. We would love to get them out of here before the weekend but we don’t want to leave one alone over the weekend. If you are willing to foster we can do that too!
This girl is doing sooooo good on a leash now. She is maintaining her weight even with nursing 6 babies.
Update! Jasmine and crew are doing great! She is such a good mamma. Thankfully she will let check the pups and make sure they are ok. They are fat and happy. We still need a rescue for this little family.
Well Jaz wasn’t the only one with a surprise this morning. Our sweet momma cat had 4 tiny bundles of love for me this morning. She was so sweet showing me her babies.
Here is the update everyone has been waiting for. Jasmine deliver her first pup at 1046 and then we waited. It got to the point we had a crate ready to put her and her baby in and get them to the vet ASAP. It was and hour and a half later but pup #2 came along. Pup #3 came along shortly after #2. Then it was another 30 minutes for #4, his little head got stuck but between mom pushing and me helping he came out. He came out very blue but I let mom do her thing, it was taking him a while to come around so I stimulated him just a little and he perked up. The last pup was born around 245pm. It has been a long day and we are all tired but when we left the little family was with mom eating great. It’s going to be a long night worrying about them. Pray for this little family that they stay healthy and find a rescue now. Individual picture of the pup will be in the comments.
Well we still have no babies! But she is better about walking on leash every single day! Today we made it around the building, I was so proud of her. She is starting to show some very early signs of labor hoping she will go soon.
