ADOPTED! Grier and his fiance had looked at the adoptables at PetSmart before heading to our facility. After visiting, they stuck with the cat that had made a good first impression: PEGGY. ADOPTED! Armando came in to see what the SCHS had in the way of adoptable younger cats. He then brought his teenage daughter over and she was the final decision-maker. Fellow teenager NORI ended up being the one. He will have dog buddy Clementine to hang with. Armando's daughter was camera-shy, so no adoption photo.

EARL GREY is looking for a permanent Valentine's Day date, one that will take him home forever! Okay, so he's not the most handsome guy around, but his super fun personality totally makes up for it. ADOPTED! Andrew and his husband came in a couple of weeks ago to meet ZEN, a Flame Point. Andrew has years of experience with the breed, just what was needed with this spunky/sassy boy. ADOPTED! Yannic and his girlfriend Leah applied for BUBBLY online and made the drive in from Charlotte. Already owners of young cat Cosmo, we hope he and Bubbly develop a life-long bond after she spends some time in "solitary" to get treated for her eye issues. They'll even get to travel to Clemmons periodically to visit family. Happy life!

ADOPTED! When the SCHS received an adoption application for BEETLES, it was surreal. This shy boy was born at the SCHS and will turn seven later this year. But the Karnes family came in feeling positive – it was their daughter who pleaded her case to her parents – and the initial meeting went well. Beetles had spent time in foster care and made genuine progress there. Our first update said that he slept with his new teenage owner the very first night. We couldn't be happier for him!! And what a great family!!

FOR ADOPTION! Handsome NELSON, born 11/22/24, was found with eyes matted shut and ear mites, walking around in circles in a resident's driveway. He immediately went into foster care where he made a wonderful recovery. Nelson appears to have had little to no socialization before intake, so he's standoff-ish and fearful. He cannot go to a home with small children and really needs an experienced cat person to work with him. He loves other cats and isn't afraid to roughhouse with the big boys. FOR ADOPTION! COSMO (black) and his sister SPARKLES, born 7/5/24, are part of a summer '24 backyard litter. Not finding them homes, the owners decided to surrender them. Cosmo starts off a bit shy but is a great cat. He likes affection and will thrive in a quieter home. Sparkles is Ms. Social. She's confident and follows volunteers around while they work. She has a little bit of kitty attitude, but experienced cat people will find her endearing.

ADOPTED! The Harkeys came in hoping to adopt a kitten that they didn't know was already spoken for. They thoughtfully spent time visiting with the other residents before selecting sweet SQUIRREL. This girl has been a mama more than once so we're thrilled that she gets to live a pampered life where she is the only cat. We're going to miss her!

ADOPTED! Jeri is retired and found herself wanting the companionship of an adult cat. The SCHS has a number of females, many of which were mamas patiently waiting to be noticed. GIGI, with us for a year, was actually found as a youngster and surrendered but she hadn't been socialized much. She has steadily bloomed and showed Jeri that she was ready to go home.

ADOPTED! The Maus family came in hoping to adopt a small kitten. However, this often isn't the best scenario when toddlers are involved. Both kitten and kid typically end up getting hurt. Having a nice group of teens, GARFIELD quickly became the choice...and who could blame them. He is the epitome of calm and cool. Happy life!

ADOPTED! Natali and Volodymyr drove all the way from Gastonia. It was a pretty day and lots of folks were hanging out on the catio. ADOPTED! Handsome DIESEL was found at a local business. When an SCHS volunteer heard about him, she went and rescued him and he was scanned for a microchip. He had none, so she fostered him but, at the end of the day, she couldn't let him go and completed the adoption process. Updates say he's getting big and really enjoying good meals.

ADOPTED! The Allen family had been searching for a female orange kitten for years. (Less than 5% of orange tabbies are female.) When Grandma visited the SCHS and saw we had one, they came racing over. Not only is HERA a rarity, she's also one of the sweetest, most easygoing babies. This family hit the jackpot.

ADOPTED! Tameeca applied for a kitten ahead of time, so all she and her daughter had to do was come in and pick one. That was the tough part, LOL. They took their time and interacted with the tinies we have, choosing EVER. She's gone from living in a field to a loving forever home. Can't beat it.

ADOPTED! Ashley and her family adopted kitten Jackpot a week ago, but they couldn't get JESSICA off their minds. While she had ants in her pants during the first meeting and doesn't like being held, she was all over Ashley's lap when Jackpot came in for a booster. By Friday, the paperwork had been done and this funny girl was on her way home. (No one was harmed in the taking of this photo, LOL.)

The SCHS has some wonderful cats that would enjoy good brushings in a loving forever home!

Those of us in animal rescue have a difficult time wrapping our heads around the thought of dumping a pet. This grey Honda Accord pulled into the SCHS lot just before 9am yesterday, March 18. No carrier, no leash to secure him, this tiny dog ran after his owner after being tossed from the car and was nearly hit.
