FOR ADOPTION! Meet MAJOR (a.k.a. Major Love Bug). Born 6/22/21, this handsome boy with the emerald green eyes was rescued from a trash convenience center. It was very apparent that he hadn't been eating well, but his foster mom has him headed in the right direction. Major is such a sweetie! He makes the best biscuits, is calm and even-tempered, and is likely eager for the good life. He deserves it!

ADOPTED! Previous adopter Crystal brought in kitten Newt for a vaccine. Even though her husband had said no more cats, he found himself falling for hilarious STEPHANIE. It didn't take long for him to cave but we wanted to make sure this youngster got a clean bill of health before leaving the building. This family is going to be seriously entertained.

ADOPTED! GEORGIE was adopted and returned because she was pooing outside the litter box. In the two weeks she's been back, she's been perfect. Judy loved all her toes, has lots of animal experience and has no other cats. Hopefully, whatever was bothering Georgie before has remedied itself. We're going to miss her!

Babies can have babies. It is NOT a choice THEY make. It is a CHOICE YOU make for them.

PLEASE do the right thing - SPAY AND NEUTER πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘.

IF YOU FEED THEM - PLEASE FIX THEM.

ADOPTED! Cute little MIMSY was another of many stray babies found so far this kitten season. With an upper respiratory infection and needing to be bottle fed, she went into foster care until she felt better. Then her original rescuer took over until she was big enough to vet and make her adoption official. This animal-loving family is so going to enjoy this affectionate lap kitty!

FOR ADOPTION! MIDNIGHT, born 4/9/24, appeared at a local school and was taken home by a student's mom. This sweet boy is quiet and has been handled by children. Please consider adopting a black kitten! They're considered the plain Janes, so get adopted less than more colorful babies. Midnight is in foster care. Please submit an adoption application through stanlycountyhumanesociety.org.

FOR ADOPTION! SIMBA, born 4/16/24, was found in the middle of the road by a good samaritan. Very thin and a little hissy-spitty, she brought him inside where he has blossomed. Simba has a spunky personality, has been around children and will be a fun, playful pet. He is in foster care. Please submit an adoption application through stanlycountyhumanesociety.org.

ADOPTED! Gabe and Lupe both come from cat-loving families and decided they wanted to add two to their own home. Sisters CALYPSO and PHOEBE were just made available last week and struck a chord with this couple since they were already bonded and love to play with each other. It was bittersweet for the kittens' foster mom, but she knows they got a great home.

ADOPTED! Leah recently started volunteering with the SCHS. She quickly fell head over heels for COLTRANE, taking photos and videos home to her mom. As a surprise, the family came in and made this cutie's adoption official. That is one happy young lady!

FOR ADOPTION! Sisters CALYPSO and PHOEBE, born 3/26/24, were both found behind an Albemarle pet store – one in a dumpster and the other in a pipe. They were likely dumped because, while feisty, they were not feral. Having spent the last two weeks in a foster home, they've had fun, been socialized and eaten goodies far superior to dumpster scraps. Please submit an adoption application through stanlycountyhumanesociety.org to get pre-approved.

FOR ADOPTION! EMBER, born 4/5/24, was found in a truck (engine) that was about to be towed away. Dirty and with goopy eyes, the SCHS took her into its very full cat room. This funny, feisty girl is enjoying good eats, naps and toys. Come meet her! Please submit an adoption application through stanlycountyhumanesociety.org to get pre-approved.

FOR ADOPTION! Two kittens were illegally dumped at the SCHS building sometime overnight on May 28. The note with them said they'd been found. Whatever the story, both were very sick and NIKO's sibling didn't make it. Born 4/5/24, this little guy is obviously a fighter. He's also super sweet, loves attention and feels so much better. Please submit an adoption application through stanlycountyhumanesociety.org to get pre-approved.

FOR ADOPTION! COLTRANE, born 4/11/24, was found outside in an apartment complex. Too small to fend for himself, his rescuers took him in but knew they could not keep him. This affectionate little fuzzball will need someone who will care for his glorious coat and give him the loving inside home he deserves. Please submit an adoption application through stanlycountyhumanesociety.org to get pre-approved.

FOR ADOPTION! STEPHANIE, born 4/8/24, was literally found in the middle of the 24/27 and 740 intersection in Albemarle, a very busy area. A young woman stopped her car and scooped her up among honking car horns. This baby is very lucky and very sweet. She enjoys some rowdy wrestling with her stuffed toy, is confident and will make a wonderful pet. Please submit an adoption application through stanlycountyhumanesociety.org to get pre-approved.

ADOPTED! Darina and Leni have not lived in the U.S. long and missed the cats they had to leave behind. They really wanted a kitten companion – a black male. The SCHS was happy to oblige, LOL! After visiting with the many we have, sweet STEALTH went home to be the king of his castle. Volunteers are going to miss him!

ADOPTED! When Roger and Wendy's daughter got her own place and took the family cat with her, they missed it. Knowing the SCHS was looking for foster homes for some of the overlooked, they decided to try GRAFFITI and FURLICITY. Having been at the SCHS for a year – since they were kittens – it was great seeing them settle in. This couple has been wonderful and we're so happy they decided to give all concerned a happy ending by finalizing their adoption.

Please keep kittens with their mom until they are about 5-6 weeks of age.

At that age, the kittens can be rescued and Mom Cat needs to be spayed so the cycle of breeding ends (and Mom Cat can be rescued if she’s friendly; Otherwise, Trap/Neuter/Return is the kindest thing to do.)

See the graphic with tips on when and when not to intervene with kittens under 5 weeks.

It seems that volunteer Christy has an aura...a vibe...something. Picky LUCY sat on her lap getting lovin's for a looooong time. She'd walk away, then come right back. No grumbles, no swats. AMAZING!

FOR ADOPTION! Sisters RIP (more white) and RUMBLE (more black), born 3/29/24, were first thought to be males; hence, the names. They were found in a car engine. Obviously from an outdoor litter, they had not been well socialized. While they waited until they were old enough for testing/vetting, volunteers worked to bring them around. Rumble still has a little way to go, but Rip is wonderful. Rumble also tested a faint positive for Feline Leukemia. It is likely a false positive and re-testing will occur over the coming weeks. She can still get adopted to a home with no other cats until we have a definitive answer. Please submit an adoption application through stanlycountyhumanesociety.org.

FOR ADOPTION! A local resident needed help in getting her mother's stray cat numbers down. Working diligently to spay/neuter the adults, the SCHS will re-home the kittens. Born 3/26/24, all have been well socialized and are sweet as can be. Some are being treated for kitty colds, but it's minor. Submit an adoption application through stanlycountyhumanesociety.org to get pre-approved. **These kittens are in foster care; they are not at the SCHS adoption facility. They will be brought in during open hours on Saturdays.

ADOPTED! Adriana saw HOCUS POCUS through the glass at PetSmart. He must have made a big impression because she hasn't had a cat since she was 12, but knew she had to have this guy. Social and fun-loving, he'll give her years of entertainment.

ADOPTED! This adoption is very special. TIBBS has been with the SCHS for more than two years. With chronic weepy eyes, people didn't gravitate toward him. However, Erica's son did. He's been wanting a cat for quite some time. Starting off with a fish, he was told he could have a cat a year later. Tibbs really showed what a sweet, affectionate boy he is and, with no other cats in the home, we feel like this could be the perfect fit. Fingers crossed!

ADOPTED! Elayna and Jon recently lost their senior cat to cancer. Missing that presence, they saw handsome ROMEO online. Having been returned last weekend, he was ready to get back into a forever home. He hit the jackpot with this family and will live in Charlotte with a Yorkie and Corgi buddy.
