Please help our shelter out.
***** GREEN STEPS FOR HOMELESS PETS UPDATE *****
We are collecting aluminum cans for recycling as a fundraiser for the shelter. The goal is a million cans which will sell as scrap for around $11,000. This will take a while but we are in it for the long haul. We are tracking our progress by imagining that all the cans collected have been placed end to end and formed into a tube. So far, we have raised $1,123.14 by selling, 94,612 cans which would create a tube 7.5 miles long. If you left the shelter in Boaz, Alabama and traveled into Albertville on East Main Street, and turned north onto US Hwy 431 and stopped at the McDonalds, this would be 7.5 miles. When I realized this, I couldn’t help but remember that fateful day in 2005 when I was a police officer at Albertville and I made an arrest at this McDonalds that changed my life and began the journey that eventually led to Second Chance Shelter. The arrestee was Wanda and you will have to contact her to get the rest of the story. Please continue bringing aluminum cans to the shelter. We will keep you updated on our progress and tube of cans as we continue north all the way to the Tennessee State line. – Have a great day – Doug
