Hi, I’m Rufus!!!!!

I am a young baby boy approximately ~ 9 months, I am neutered and vaccinated.

I was dumped on a Friday and waited for my people in the same spot until Monday came and someone helped me find the Albia Animal Clinic. I am a fun, happy boy full of energy. I would love a home with friends or kids. I don’t think I’ve ever been around cats before though.

We are excited to announce Albia’s first community cat spay and neuter clinic. After closely working with the Albia Police Department, the community service resource officer, and the Albia Animal Clinic team, we have formed the Albia Community Cat Spay and Neuter program.

Our first event will be October 19th 2024 at the Albia Animal Clinic where we will be spaying and neutering cats at free will donation and donation funded. Spots will be determined by the amount of funding received. Our team as well as multiple other professionals will be donating their time to help control the cat population in Albia. This was all started by the rising concern about the amount of cats in the town and the inability to care for them.

Please stop by or call to secure a spot at the clinic. (641 932-7811 during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 8-5pm) Cats should be over four pounds, healthy, and considered a community cat. Community cats are cats that spend 100% of their time outside within city limits and are not owned by any specific individual. Another name for these cats would be feral. All cats will be dropped off in the morning and need to be picked up around noon.

If you do not have any cats to sign up, but still want to help - please stop in to help sponsor a cat to get spayed or neutered. An account will be set up at the clinic to help fund items such as anesthesia costs, surgery supplies, and vaccine.

We have 7 puppies that are going to be available up for adoption - they are not quite ready to leave mom yet, but we are wanting to start taking applications for adoption. They will be ready to go end of September/beginning of October.

Each puppy will be vaccinated, wormed and spayed/neutered.

Adoption is $200 to help cover cost of vaccinations, worming, housing since birth, spay/neuter.

Mom is a petite pit bull, very sweet and friendly and will be up for adoption as well once she is spayed.

These kids were brought out this morning (8/30) St. Bernard is an intact male and lab is female with sore hind leg, if they are yours, please claim at Albia Police Department. Please bring proof of vaccinations for each dog and receipt from law center to be able to claim.

We love Comet and Comet is learning to love us!!!!

He has decided that pets are really nice and enjoys being scratched on the head and by his ears. He is learning the leash, still very hesitant. Lots of new things to explore - very scared of being inside of a building, but really loves his kennel. It’s his new safe space. We are working with him on his terms. Taking it day by day! We all want what’s best for this sweet boy!!!

We love, love, love that people are interested in adoption! For right now we are not taking applications or names for him, but when the time is right for him, we will make a post because we know he’s already loved by so many! He’s a special boy that’s going to need lots of TLC.

This sweet boy “Comet” was brought to us this morning after months of attempts trying to pick this baby up. To all that helped - City of Albia - CSO, Laynie, Paws of Hope Animal Rescue, Albia Police Department, all the dog lovers in the community keeping him fed/watered - THANK YOU, he is finally safe!!!

He is going to hang out with us for awhile to help get him socialized. He is still very nervous but we are hopeful with time, he will be okay!

He is now neutered, vaccinated, wormed, has flea and tick prevention and all the snacks a good boy could ask for.

We are FULL on cats and kittens BEFORE we can take any in, we have to adopt these babies out.

They are spayed/neutered and vaccinated (minus the 2 kittens who are still too small to be spayed/neutered)

If you are interested in any of these babies, please call during business hours 8-5, Monday-Friday! Adoption applications are available via email or at the clinic to fill out!

Adoption fee for cats is $50, each cat is spayed/neutered and vaccinated! Adoption fee helps with housing and healthcare for these furry friends until we can find them forever homes!

Stay safe. Please don’t forget our furry friends outside they need a lot of fresh cold water and shade, even better letting them lay in the basement or in the garage with a fan on the cool concrete can literally save their life. Pay special attention to the young dogs as well as the older dogs.
