We frequently see masses involving the mammary chain and many can be cancerous. If you are noticing anything abnormal in the mammary chain of your dog or cat please be sure to have it evaluated! ♥️

3 positive cases of Lyme Disease in dogs in the local area detected just TODAY….this doesn’t include the other positive cases already this year. The infected tick numbers are very high this year and the infected ticks are very small and hard to find. Please be sure to protect yourself and your pets! Picture of a recently removed tick (yuk!)

This is a baby heartworm (called microfilaria). They circulate in the blood while the adult heartworm stays in the heart. Mosquitoes are out already with this weather so don’t forget to keep your pet on their preventatives!

We are excited to announce that Irwin Avenue Animal Hospital is also offering advanced imaging such as Computed Tomography or CT scans with our friends with the Mobile CT unit! This allows us to image normally hard to see areas such as the skull or certain joint anomalies. Please give us a call if you think your pet may be in need of imaging such as CT.

We are happy to welcome Dr. Jen Bohney to our practice!

Dr. Jen graduated from Michigan State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She has been married to her wonderful husband, Bob, for 23 years. They also have two amazing children, Taylor and Matthew. In addition, Dr. Jen has quite a menagerie of pets at home with 3 dogs, 3 ferrets, 1 cat, and 11 chickens. When she isn’t working hard saving animal lives, she is either making her own jewelry, or surrounding herself with animals. She is an absolutely wonderful soul and a joy to be around and also believes in love, kindness, and being humble. We are so happy to have her as a part of the Irwin Avenue Animal Hospital team!!
