UPDATE ADOPTED!!!!!!

Hi! My name is Maxie! I am a 16 year old chestnut Thoroughbred mare. I came into rescue with another Thoroughbred mare. Our owner had passed away leaving the us and two mini horses on the property. It was sad because before he got sick, he took really good care of us all. But as he got sick, he wasn't able to care for us and he didn't have any friends or family to check on him either. Our barn was set way back off of the road so even after they came and took him away it took a little longer for anyone to come find us. When they did they called the nice people here and they came to get us. The two minis and the other mare have been adopted so now it's my turn at a new life! I have been used as a broodmare most of my life so I'm a really good mommy. I cannot be ridden anymore though. I have an old injury that has my ankle fused so I have a limp when I walk. But don't feel sorry for me! I get along just fine and am not in any pain. I would make a perfect pet and companion horse. I am easy to be around and a very easy keeper. If you have an empty stall in your barn that needs filled or a spot in the pasture that needs grazing - look no further! If you'd like to meet me - send in your application to [email protected]. She will set up a time for you and I to meet at the farm.

ADOPTED!!!

Hi! My name is Moon! I am a diluted blue roan Paint gelding. I just got the farm and am just beginning my evaluation training. I came from a hack stable where I was strictly used for trail riding. Put me behind another horse and I will follow like a little soldier. Robyn, the trainer here, is working with me to see how much I know and find out more about me. It will probably be about a month before I am ready for adoption but if you are interested you can follow the steps below to get to meet me and see if we are a fit!

You must have an appointment to meet me and in order to do that you'll need to go https://www.theannashelter.com/horses-for-adoption - fill out and application and email it to [email protected] - please don't call the farm or the shelter - don't just show up at the farm - or send an email to "just ask" about us. We only have time for serious inquiries on the farm animals as the farm is tightly staffed and very busy. Adoption fee applies - will be discussed with pre-approved applicants.

Hi! My name is Luna I am an 8 year old Quarter Horse mare. I am a lovely flea bitten grey color with gorgeous dapple points. I am 14.3 1/2 hh. I came here with my friend, Jett. Our mom was loved us very much but was getting older and not using us anymore.
When she did ride us, we went to horse shows; went on tons of trail rides and spent lots of time together. Times got tough for our mom and she didn't have the time or resources to care for us. She knew we had lots to offer a new family and decided to send us here to find new wonderful homes. We needed some TLC when we got here and thankfully, that's something, Ashley the stable girl here loves to do! We needed grooming; to gain some weight; and get farrier and routine vet care done. Since it had been a while since we had been ridden, Robyn Roseberry (the trainer here) spent a few months working with us. It didn't take long at all to fall right back into what we know well and love being active again! We are finally ready for our new homes!!! We get along just fine but don't need to go to the same home at all. We would like a home with another horse friend, however. In Robyn's own words: "Luna is broke to ride Western and is a sweet, honest trail horse. She's not as seasoned as Jett, but has never done anything wrong. I wouldn't say she's for a beginner, but would make a nice mount for the right youth or adult who has some experience and is ready to go someplace with a nice horse. "

Hi! My name is Jett! I am a 15 year old Paint mare. I am what's considered "breeding stock paint" cause I am solid color. But I am the most stunning black mare with beautiful white markings. I am 15'1 1/2 hh. I came here with my friend, Luna. Our mom was loved us very much but was getting older and not using us anymore.

She hasn't done one thing wrong. She'll ride western, English, and ba****ck. Quiet enough for a trail horse, but nice enough to go to the horse show. She would be a perfect 4-H horse! "

Hi, Ruth and Robyn, I wanted to share some updated pictures of Fridley (former Lance), Kit (former Archie) and Kennedy (former Bubbles). They are doing GREAT. So funny as we get to know their personalities. Kit is very attached to Fridley – follows him everywhere! I think he wishes she would go away sometimes. Kennedy is more of a loner but is definitely part of the gang. They LOVE being outside when it is sunny. FYI – the cough in all 3 is mostly gone. We rarely hear it anymore. Just wanted you to know they are doing well

Update on Poppy (formerly known as Angel):
"Thought this was too cute not to share.. Poppy has a friend.. He sits on her back while she eats her grain and she shares her grain with him. She is doing SO well.. We are anxious for the weather to break, the mud to dry and to get her out on the trail after some ground work. She has taken over our herd, but is so bonded with our other 2 horses. Yesterday, Grandy went to roll in the mud and she flopped down before he could get there and then rolled, hopped up and took off.. Grandy chased her around for about 15 mins he was so mad... She loves to tease him, she is playing with the other 2 horses and it is so good for our 25 yr old Thoroughbred he loves her and so do we.

Hope all is well with you! We miss you Robyn and Blake."

We were called to assist with three ponies whose owner was unable provide them with adequate care anymore. The ponies (2 Shetlands and a Hackney/Morgan cross) were picked up and taken to our Equine Center where they will be given some necessary medical care, evaluated and then eventually be placed up for adoption. These ponies were very much loved and just became too much for their elderly owner to accommodate. She did the most responsible thing and what was best for the ponies by signing them over to find new families.

I am gorgeous really...shiny black with super thick mane and tail. I have been shown in halter classes at the fair and have done really well! I have great manners and love attention! Being brushed and petted makes me feel like the Princess that I am. I have been pastured with full sized horses and other minis as well and do just fine. I came here with some of my friends because our owner was unable to care for us anymore and knew we would be safe here and find new homes. I have been raised around children and get along great with them. I have been shown at local fairs in halter classes and am green broke to ride. UPDATE ADOPTED!!!!!

Hi! My name is Rockee! I am a 20 year old 11hh Shetland cross pony gelding! I came here with some of my friends because our owner's health was failing and she knew coming here would be our best chance at finding new homes. I am a "been there/done that" type of pony. I am super beautiful - like a mini Black Beauty - with a wide blaze and two white socks. I have been shown by children for years at local fairs. I've been shown in halter, showmanship, games (like barrels and poles) and take great care of my little passengers! I've also trail ridden like the Rock Star that I am. I load onto the trailer and lunge like it's my job; stand like a gentleman for the vet and farrier; and have great ground manners. And as if I couldn't get much better...I am also green broke to drive as well!
I've been pastured with full sized horses and minis and get along great with everyone. I would love a child or two of my own again and a family to have fun with again! If you've been looking for a unicorn of a pony - you found me! The farm is only open for appointments for preapproved applications so go to https://www.theannashelter.com/horses-for-adoption and download an application and email it to [email protected] - they will set up a time for us to formally introduced and see if we would be a good fit.

12/12/2021

We received a call this weekend from authorities in Ohio asking for our help with a situation just across the State line. The elderly owner of 4 horses (2 are minis) had passed away and his horses had been left with no one able to provide them proper care. They had been living on the property alone for a close to a month. They had no food, no potable water, and were living in deep, thick mud. In fact, they had eaten much of the wood that made up the fence which is common when horses are starving. On Saturday our hauling team, Ruth and Brad, went out to pick them up and bring them to the safety of the rescue. The horses were terrified and hadn't been handled in a very long time. It was quite the ordeal in the mud and rain but with the amazing horse whisperer we are proud to call our own, Dr. Roseberry, he was able to get all four horses safely and patiently loaded on the trailer. Once back at the farm he was able to being to assess their needs (besides the obvious groceries) and within minutes they had all settled into their make shift stalls in the indoor arena and contently began munching on their hay. They are safe now in the hands of Dr. Roseberry, Robyn and Ashely at the farm. Stay tuned for adoption information - as soon as Dr. Roseberry and Robyn feel they are able to be rehomed we will need your help finding them their new families! For now, we'll appreciate your thoughts, good vibes and prayers for their quick recovery! Also, a huge shout out to staff member, Lex, for coming out to help us with this rescue!

Hi! My name is Luke! I am a 2 year old 13hh Palomino pony c**t. I came here with my best friend, Brad. Brad was adopted so now it's my turn! I am a very sweet little guy who just loves being around people and other horses too. I am halter broke and have great manners. I load on the trailer like a champ and love to be petted and fussed over. If you have been looking for a handsome new pony for your pasture - look no further! UPDATE ADOPTED!!!!

Hi! My name is Patsy! I am a 13 year old 15.1hh bay Paint mare. I came to the rescue because my mom is having health issues and is no longer able to keep me. For the past year I have been living on the family farm with a few goat friends but I have lived with and done well with other horses. In my past I was used for trail riding and have been shown at the local fairs but I have had some time off since my mom wasn't feeling well so I will need a quick refresher if you are looking for a riding partner but I am really good at being a beautiful pasture pet too! I will need a home with horse experience - I am not a beginner horse. The indoor photos of me were just taken this week but the outside pictures were of me this past summer - I know what you're thinking..."WOW! She is gorgeous!" And I am - but am also a very sweet lovey girl who is looking for her next family and home to share my life with. The farm is only open for appointments for preapproved applications so go to https://www.theannashelter.com/horses-for-adoption and download an application and email it to [email protected] - they will set up a time for us to formally introduced and see if we would be a good fit.UPD

UPDATE ADOPTED!!!!!

Hi! My name is Brad! I am a 5 year old Draft cross/maybe Haflinger pony gelding. I am a stocky built solid 14hh pony. I came here with my buddy, Luke, but he's not quite ready for adoption....but I AM!!!! I am broke to ride and drive and am just a dream to be around. I am an in your pocket horse who loves to be around his people and make new friends. I'm an easy keeper and do well with other horses too. I am quiet and gentle and will stand for hours to be brushed and loved on. I stand like a gentleman for the farrier too and load right up on the trailer with no hesitation. Because I had a rough start in life, I am not quite sound at the jog but Dr. Roseberry and Robyn think that will improve with age and a better living environment - they can explain more when we meet. Robyn has spent time working with me and confirms that I am safe and perfectly fit for light riding. If you're looking for a perfect family type of horse to take nice walking rides around the property; dote all over and spoil with lots of loving and treats; and an all around lover of a boy...I am your guy! If you'd like to meet me go to https://www.theannashelter.com/horses-for-adoption download and fill out an application and email it back to [email protected]. Visits to the farm are by appointment only so Robyn will reach out to approved applicants to come and meet me. Hauling is available to my new home as well!

Hi! My name is Manny and this is my best friend, Eliot. I am a 12-15 year old Percheron gelding and Eliot is a 28-30 year old Appaloosa gelding. I help Eliot get around and we love each other a lot. I am super lovey and enjoy lots of attention and loving. I love to be brushed and get fussed over! Eliot is a little more aloof - don't get me wrong - he likes to be brushed too but I am definitely the social one! I have been broke to ride and drive but will need a quick refresher cause it's been a while. Our dad has some health issues and has made the tough decision to find us new home but has promised us we will stay together. If you have room in your barn and heart for two super cool dudes...please consider us. If you would like more information on us - email [email protected]. She will get you in touch with the farm so you can see about coming to meet us. BTW...sorry for the fuzzy picture but we are much more handsome in real life!!! But as you can see - a simple strand of wire kept us in the pasture so we are easy keepers for sure!

We recently took in these two horses who will be assessed and placed up for adoption soon! Stay tuned for more information! We will figure them out and see what type of home they will be best suited for. Inquiries on these two won't be answered until we officially place them up for adoption most likely in the next few weeks!
