🤔Wondering if dogs can eat chocolate? 🍫The quick answer is NO. Dogs should never eat chocolate.

You may have heard about dogs who ate chocolate and “were fine” but reality check chocolate is toxic to dogs. And there are no safe levels. 🙅

Many factors impact how your dog’s system reacts:
-Quantity eaten
-Type of chocolate
-Age, weight, and overall health of dog
-Time since ingestion

Signs of toxicity:
-Vomiting/Diarrhea – The most common and often earliest signs of chocolate toxicity.
-Excessive Thirst & Urination – The diuretic effects of theobromine and caffeine can quickly cause dangerous levels of dehydration.
-Restlessness/Agitation – Can be the result of the stimulant effects of theobromine and caffeine.
-High Heart Rate/Panting – Elevated or irregular heart rate can lead to cardiac arrest, especially in older or health-compromised dogs. This should be monitored at your vet’s.
-Seizure -The most severe symptom of chocolate toxicity with greatest potential for fatality if untreated.

Remember, the quicker your dog is treated by an emergency vet 🩺after chomping on chocolate, the better to minimize risk of organ failure. Don’t wait! - Taken from VEG post but has some valuable information with Halloween coming up.

🚨 Red flags for urinary trouble in pets:​
1️⃣ Difficulty or straining to urinate​
